Intensity of water Current Pressure = 52 K V^2 kg / m^2

In 20 degree variation in water current direction

Velocity in Transverse Direction = V max. * cos 20
Velocity in Longitudnal Direction = V max. * sin 20

Where V max. = 2.000 V

Here, mean velocity of flow = 1.500 m/s

Design of Pier Well Cap

Outer dia of well = 7.500 m Grade of conc. of well cap = M 35.000
Inner dia of well = 5.900 m

The well cap has been designed as partillay restrained at supports and following coefficients have been adopted for the design of circular well cap under uniformly distibuted load.

Sagging moment at bottom = WD^2

30.000 W = Uniformly distributed load on well cap
D = Effective diameter of well
Hogging moment at top = WD^2
60.000

The load transmitted by pier is assumed to have been dispersed at 45 degree upto effective depth of well cap.

Effective dia = 7.500 + 5.900 = 6.700 m

(Av. of inner & outer dia) 2.000

Effective depth of well cap = 1.895 m Thickness of steining = 0.800 m

Effective dia = 5.900 + 1.000 x 1.895 = 7.795 m

(Inner dia + eff. depth)

Check for shear

Total udl on well cap = 48.000 + 166.49 = 214.493 kN / m^2

Shear will be checked at the circumference of dredge hole

3.14 x ( 5.90 x 5.90 ) x 214.493 = 5864.18 kN

Total load on dredge hole area = 4.00 5864.182
LOAD

Perimeter of the inner dia = 3.142 x 5.900 )= 18.535 m

Load / m = 5864.18 = 316.38 kN / m

18.54

Load /m due to moment = 189.469 x 5.90 = 24.902 kN / m

6.700 x 6.700

Total shear force = 316.38 + 24.90 = 341.28 kN

Shear stress = 341.28 x 1000.00 = 0.180 N / mm^2

1895.00 x 1000.00

Permissible Shear Stress :

Area of tension reinforcement = 100.00 x 2617.99 = 0.138

1000.00 x 1895.00

Here, Asx100/ bxd = 0.14 For As x 100 / b x d = 0.15 t c = 0.20

For As x 100 / b x d = 0.25 t c = 0.23

So,for Asx100/ bxd = 0.14 tc = 0.200

From IRC:21-2000, Table 12B,

Permissible Shear Stress, tc = 0.200
From IRC:21-2000, Table 12C, K = 1.00 (for overall depth of cap is greater than 300mm)

So, permissible shear stress, = K x tc

= 0.200
