Introduction: Science and Technology often go hand in hand. Almost all scientific
advances have been the result of new technical advances. This is particularly
illustrative in relation to the discovery of the cell reproduction cycle, observed in the
onion root sample. This discovery will provide a number of benefits in any applicable
field, since it will improve processes, in addition it will allow the solution of problems,
in an exact and concise way due to the theoretical characteristics of the discovery.
Objective: Discover how and why the onion root grows so fast.
Materials and methods: The onion root sample was obtained manually, since a
priori to the practice exactly four (4) days before, a tedious and delayed process was
carried out to obtain the onion root, which in summary words consisted of putting
the onion (onion cabezona), in water so that it would allow the growth of the root,
this in order to obtain a portion of root for the sample. Once the sample was taken,
the prototype had to be dyed with lugol, this is because we already knew that the
nucleus had chromosomes, and that these were visible only when they were dyed
with lugol, the decision was made to stain the nucleus, this allowed to see and
observe the changes that occurred in the cells of the onion root. After the assembly
and staining of the sample with Lugol, it was observed under a microscope, this
observation was made in different magnifications, which gave us accuracy in what
was observed.
Results: The observed onion root sample partially denoted the reproduction cycle
of the cells in some or all of the living beings, but what was found was that the onion
root has a cell reproduction cycle, what allows an accelerated growth. It was also
discovered that this cycle consists of six different phases, which have different
characteristics, among which we can highlight the duration time between each
phase, this is denoted when at the time of observing the sample under the
microscope, all the cells were in different phases, which made us think that the
duration time is different between each one.
Conclusions: It was concluded that the cells of the onion root have a reproduction
cycle, which allows that this part of the onion shows an accelerated growth, in
addition, according to the observed it was concluded that each phase lasts a certain
time, together that this time is different in each phase.
