TEST PROCEDURES FOR 4B SPEED/HAZARD MONITORING EQUIPMENT

M100, M300, M500, M600, M700, M800

A. When used without the Whirligig:

1. Lock-out and tag-out elevator or conveyor to be tested.

2. Access speedswitch, wrap sensor head adjacent target with aluminum foil.
This will block target inputs.
3. When all personnel are clear remove lock-out, tag-out, and start elevator
empty, DO NOT INTRODUCE GRAIN!
4. Observe that machine shuts down AFTER start up delay “time out”.
5. Remove aluminum foil observing lock-out, tag-out procedures.

REPORT ANY NON-COMPLIANCE IMMEDIATELY!

B. When used with the Whirligig:

DO NOT remove the Whirligig cover.

DO NOT introduce grain.

Since there are no exposed rotating parts, and no guards need to be removed
to perform this test, it is not necessary to lock-out and tag-out the machine.

1. With the machine running, place a thin steel blade (such as a putty knife) or
a sheet of aluminum foil between the sensor and the Whirligig cover. This will
block target inputs.
2. Observe that the machine shuts down immediately.

REPORT ANY NON-COMPLIANCE IMMEDIATELY!

WATCHDOG MK2

1. Perform this test with bucket elevator empty, DO NOT INTRODUCE GRAIN!
2. Lock-out, tag-out elevator.
3. Remove from housing one motion/alignment sensor by slackening clamp
bolt and after marking its depth location.
4. When all personnel are clear remove lock-out and tag-out.
5. Start elevator, after approximately 18 seconds a misalignment led should
illuminate on the control unit and the audible alarm should start.
6. After three minutes alarm time the elevator should be automatically shut
down.
7. Repeat the above for the other motion-alignment sensor.
8. Repeat the above but withdraw both motion-alignment sensors.
9. Start elevator and almost immediately it will automatically shut down, even
with the “start-up delay” the “Watchdog” monitors for accelerating belt.
10. Check that the alarm and stop LED’s are illuminated.
11. Re-install motion/alignment probes to pre-test positions.
12. To test the bearing temperature system have Qualified personnel disconnect
the low voltage wire to terminal 4 while the elevator is running. The result
should be immediate led bearing warning and audible alarm followed after
three minutes by automatic shutdown. This can also be done at an
individual bearing if necessary.

WATCHDOG “elite”

Warning: do not introduce grain, as this test will shut down the elevator.

1. With the elevator running go to the main menu by pressing the button “C”
(green) on the Watchdog front cover.
2. Select “TEST” from the menu. Two options will be displayed, “TEST SETTINGS”
and “FULL TEST”.
3. Select the “FULL TEST” and enter the engineer’s access code “BBBB”
4. The value of calibrated speed and actual alarm and stop trip speed settings
will be displayed. The unit will then perform a self-test. Finally, the alarm relay
will de-energize and the audible alarm should sound, then the stop relay will
de-energize and the elevator should stop immediately.
5. The display will then indicate “ELEVATOR STOPPED” “READY TO RUN” and the
red stop LED will be on.
ALWAYS OBSERVE LOCK-OUT & TAG-OUT PROCEDURES AND REPORT NON-
COMPLIANCE IMMEDIATELY!
