1. Have a notebook for Criminal Law (actual notebook, not electronic) where you will place your notes
and case digests.

2. In your notebook, please note the following items from the initial assignment for tomorrow, which is
to read items 1-5 of the "Required Preliminary Readings" in the Course outline.

a. Note how the case reached the Supreme Court-- was it an appeal or an original action?

b. What was the provision of the Constitution that was being invoked and/or challenged?

c. What was contained in the judgement of the Court in each of the cases (the judgement is in
the last part of the Decision, usually starting with "Wherefore")

d. Were there separate concurring or dissenting opinions? If so, how many and by whom?
