• Introduction

A School is a place where you can receive educational

institution to learn academics and to learn manners under the

direction of Teachers. All of the School has a Library where

we can do additional learning by reading plenty of books.

Books can also improve our reading skills. A Library is a

collection of sources of information, where it is allowed to

borrow books. A Library is a collection of sources, made

accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing.

Library’s collection can be include books, periodicals,

newspaper, manuscripts, films, maps, prints, documents,

microform, CDs, cassettes, videotapes, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs,

e-books, audiobooks and databases, and other formats. It is

organized for use and maintained by a public body, an

institution, a corporation, or a private individual. Public

and institutional collections and services may be intended

for use by people who choose not to or cannot afford to

purchase an extensive collection themselves, who need

material no individual can be reasonably be expected to have,

or who require professional assistance with their research.

In addition to providing materials, libraries also provide

the services of Librarians who are experts at finding and

organizing information and at interpreting information needs.

The main aim of this system is to develop a new programmed

system that will conveying ever lasting solution to the manual

base operations and to make available a channel through which

staff can maintain the record easily and customers can access

the information about the library at whatever place they might

find themselves.

Computerized Library System allows user to store the book

details and the customer details. The system is strong enough

to withstand regressive yearly operations under conditions

where the database is maintained and cleared over a certain

time of span. The implementation of the system in the

organization will considerably reduce data entry, time and

also provide readily calculated reports.

OBJECTIVES- It keeps track of all the information about the

books in the library, their status and total number of books

available in the Library.

The user will find it easy in this automated system rather

than using the manual writing system. The system contains a

database where all the information will be stored safely.

• Background of the study

The Researcher conduct the research in Good Samaritan

Colleges (GSC) it is located at Burgos Avenue, Cabanatuan

City, 3100 Nueva Ecija. It is a private school that providing

our community knowledge, skills and qualities through

exceptional and holistic experience to better equip for the

future. GSC offers a lot of opportunities.

• Statement of the Problem

The main aim of this system is to develop a new programmed

system that will conveying ever lasting solution to the manual

base operations and to make available a channel through which

staff can maintain the record easily and customers can access

the information about the library at whatever place they might

find themselves.
3.1 General Problem

Developing a Computerized Library System that can identify

the books easily in the Library of Good Samaritan Colleges.

3.2 Specific Problem

3.2.1 Transactions in the Library

Still have the chance that transactioning will have predicament.

For the reason that it might malfunction if some of the data inside

error unintentionally.

3.2.2 Finding for the books in the library is time-consuming

One of the problems encountered in the library is that finding or

searching the book it is a time consuming to find where it is. It

can be borrowed or something.

3.2.3

4. Objectives of the Study

This research Computerized Library System will help you to perform

task in the School Library/ies with the following functionalities:

1. Allow the School Libraries to:

 Input reading materials in the system.

 Allow borrowing and returning of reading materials.

 Track reading materials usage and availability.

 Monitor users overdue books and reading materials

borrowed by users.

 Generate Reports

-Yearly Statistical Data Record of Books.

2. Allow the librarian users to:

 Search reading materials in the system.

 View of the book transaction (materials borrowed,

returned and overdue).

4.1 General Objectives Mainly

So that it can be easily find and easy to know if the book is

borrowed or returned in the library of Good Samaritan Colleges.

Can search the book or the reading material like Dictionaries,

Idioms, Maps, etc.

4.2 Specific Objectives

4.2.1 To design a system that will lessen time and effort of the

student in their transaction.

4.2.2 To quickly search the book needed by the student of the

library.

4.2.3 To print out reports immediately and to implement the library

system that will benefit the students in their studies.

II. 1. Scope and Delimitation

The system will comply with the library rules set out by

the school (borrowing privileges, number of books to be

borrowed, duration, suspension of privileges, fines

imposed). The system is designed only for the Library in

Good Samaritan Colleges.

2. Significance of the Study

The system is capable of reducing time spent and errors

associated with the identification and verification library

reading materials as well as charging-in and charging-out

through the use of computer technology. Speed of data

retrieval for the librarians will also be more appreciated.

Moreover, there is a lack of system that will perform some

of library task and services in the school. Due to changing

demand, like the implementation of K to 12, there is a

necessity to enhance the quality of education including the

library where most students spend time for reading

assignments, research or even past time.

3. Review of Related Literature

3.1 Local Literature

The Philippine government is doing its best to provide the

rudiments of basic schooling to its people for free, and setting

education as one of its priority. Similarity, the 1987 Philippine

Constitution provides that public secondary education must be

free. However, the quality of education is being challenged with

crucial problems. Along with other developing country in South

East Asia (SEA), the Philippines shares many of the same problems

and limitations as those of its fellow developing nations. The

Department of Education believes that ICT plays a major role in

creating a new and improved model of teaching and learning where

educational happens anytime, anywhere. In order to achieve that

vision Five-Year ICT Strategic Plan which aims to, completely

integrate ICT into curriculum, including the development of

multimedia instructional materials, and to establish the necessary

ICT infrastructure and applications has taken place. At the

elementary level, ICT integration in existing curriculum

contributed to meeting the student performance targets. Also

supported the fact that there is a great need in the use of advanced

science and technology in order to enhance teaching skills. Since

the integration of multimedia learning environments, simulations

and computer-based laboratory analysis tools foster superior math,

science, and language skills. On the other hand, alarming in

library system management are often neglected and not prioritized.

The majority of the school claim to have used computers for

educational purposes for at least two years and teacher-to-

computer ratios appear slightly better, with almost a quarter (24.2

percent) of the schools that allow teacher to access to computers

having one computer for four or less teachers. Almost half of the

public high schools, however, have not computerized their library

database, assuming that they have one in the first place.

3.2 Foreign Literature

The Lovely Professional University (2011) promotes a culture of

paperless University. The day to day administration and most of

the University procedures are carried out online. The University

Management System (UMS), an online portal of University, is one

such innovative step of the University to provide vital information

regarding academics and other University logistics for assisting

the University students, their parents and the staff. According to

Wikipedia (2014), in the past, universities and large school

districts in particular have created their own bespoke student

record systems. One such example is the Repository of Student

Information (ROSI) system at University of Toronto. With growing

complexity in the business of educational establishments, most

organizations now choose to buy customizable software, and

increasing numbers are buying software as a service (SAAS). Most

student information systems in use today are server-based, with

the application residing on a central computer server, and being

accessed by client applications at various places within and even

outside the school. But student information systems have been

moving to the web since the late 1990s and that trend is

accelerating as institutions replace older systems.
