Introduction

For four months from 7th Jan to 6th May 2019, I had internship experience under a wonderful firm
named 'Atto atelier'. Atto atelier is a renowned firm in Bangalore. This from is specialised in brewery
projects and high end housing projects. The firm has designed some of the most popular Breweries in
rich area of Bangalore. These Breweries attract a great number of customers on a daily basis.

I worked on 3 of the major projects in which two were Breweries and remaining one was a startup
workshop renovation project. During the construction of these Breweries, I played a major part in
designing the details suited to the site and in inspecting the execution on site properly. During these
projects I got to know the various essential parts of the architecture practice. There were many
challenges we as a united firm faced in designing and making that design executed properly on site.

How this firm thinks -

Atto atelier architects is a design firm which is specialised in designing the residential, commercial and
industrial architecture. The firm is committed to provide the most professional, efficient and cost
effective designs. The goal is to satisfy the client with keeping in mind the effects, benefits to the
context and natural elements.

Atto atelier is a dynamic organisation of innovative professionals who share a common goal to render
the best and most effective designs to the demanding architect industry.

Every firm has some concept which to be followed throughout the design and execution. In this firm the
concepts were elements of nature. These elements were air, water, sky and earth. As you will see in the
explained projects that design is complete integrated with nature.

How this firm works -

Collaboration is one essential word to describe atto atelier architecture. The office has everyone's
involvement in every project. For every project a senior architect and one or two trainees are assigned
to work on different spaces / specification of a project. During discussion everyone's given their own
time to discuss everything related to their own knowledge without missing a single suggestion on
design. In addition, There is two type of meetings in atto atelier, one is with clients, consultants and the
second one is within ofiice involving the architects and the interns.

What I wanted from internship -

When I was applying for the mandatory internship, I had some priorities defined from the bigening.
Major of these were-

I need to go to the firm which works not only one type of architecture but various types.

The firm need not to be a very big firm in size because responsibility will be affected by this.

I wanted to explore the architectural implications on a commercial project.

My biggest issue was the lack in field experience.

What I did while interning -

When I joined Atto atelier firm as a intern, from first day I was given some toilet civil dwgs to finalise in
coming week. These dwgs were related to an ongoing project 'URU Brewpark'. In the firm, client
architects meeting place was the site. After joining, every Friday was scheduled for a client architects
meeting. I took part in all of the Friday meeting happened while the project was in the construction
stage. During the construction stage, architectural work was divided into two parts fabrication work and
civil work in which I was given the fabrication work and my fellow intern Gautam the civil work to attend
to.

As my knowledge and experience within the architecture practices is severely limited there is much for
me to learn. During the internship I worked with AutoCAD to prepare the floor plans dwgs and detail
drawings as well as I enhance my 3D model making skills by being involved in the production of the
digital model of the projects via SketchUp.

While attending to the other project mycelio 'the startup workshop', I had no chance to attend the site
meeting. I mainly worked on production of construction and detail dwgs for the facade and the
mezzanine floor dwgs.

another project I handled as intern was the sapphire hotel and brewery. As this project started late, I
took part only in the initial designing. I learnt that a design is never final design.
