vTrade Project

Introduction
I am currently an ABM student in Jose Rizal University. What is ABM? Accountancy,
Business, and Management is an academic track that I chose to pursue. In this strand we have this
subject called Business Finance, where we are learning all about stocks, trading, and many more.
This is one of the many steps to learn more about the topic. We are learning lots of things with the
subject itself. So, our project is all about learning how to trade stocks. When to buy and when to
sell at the right time.

Trading is not easy as it is said. I seriously thought that trading was easy due to the fact of
me watching movies about people trading, but then this subject arose. Showing me that it is not an
easy feat to earn quickly like those who are in the movies. You must learn all the things about
trading stocks, and investing before you start or else you’ll end up losing a load of money when
you do so.

I realized that trading or investing is not that easy started on the first app that our teacher
made us to play. From there I knew that you won’t always earn because stock prices fluctuate
depending on the time frame you chose. Risks are a part of the game; without risking you won’t
learn anything from the game. Lastly, Investagram or vTrade came, in this game or simulation you
will have a petty cash of ₱100,000 then you will choose companies where you will buy shares
from them. There is a chart on every company that you will pick, the role of those charts is to
watch how assets or stocks prices move, there you will decide on your own if you’re going to buy
certain amount of shares from the company. Here you’ll be bound to learn everything about
trading.
 Methods
I am playing the game vTrade using my phone, for I always have my phone with me so, it
is easier to check up with my stocks if I am earning from shares or if I am losing money. You can
also play using your laptop or computer because it has its own site. It is handy using your phone
because the platform there is easier to understand where to find this and that. Of course you need
to sign up before playing the game itself using either your Facebook or your email for applying to
play, so, mostly I do the trading with my phone.

I bought 10 companies all in all. These companies are the first 10 that first popped in my
mind right after starting playing the simulation of trading, and these 10 are BDO, Puregold, 7-11,
San Miguel Corporation, Filinvest, San Miguel Food and Beverages, Cebu Air Inc, Universal
Robina Corp, Chelsea Holdings, and lastly, Globe Telecom. The reason I bought shares from these
companies is that it is one of the top tiers when it comes to the industry.

Information about these companies:

BDO - Banco de Oro is a banking company, and is known to be the largest bank in the Philippines.
It gives a total cluster of industry-driving items and administrations including Lending (corporate
and customer), Deposit-taking, Foreign Exchange, Brokering, Trust and Investments, Credit
Cards, Corporate Cash Management and Remittances in the country.

Puregold - Puregold Price Club, Inc. is a Philippines-based organization occupied with the matter
of exchanging merchandise, for example, purchaser items (canned merchandise, housewares,
toiletries, dry products, and nourishment items, among others) on a discount and retail premise.

7-11 - Seven-Eleven is one of the most known convenience store in the country. 7-Eleven Inc. It
is also a Japanese-U.S. international chain of convenience stores, headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

San Miguel Corporation - San Miguel Corporation (SMC) was initially established in 1890 as a
solitary bottling works in the Philippines. The Company has from that point forward changed itself
from a refreshment, nourishment and bundling business into an enhanced aggregate with
organizations in fuel and oil, vitality, foundation, and banking enterprises.
Filinvest - Filinvest Development Corporation (PSE: FDC), is the freely recorded holding

Philippines, with about 3,000 representatives conveyed in an across the country system of

refreshment backup of San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

Cebu Air Inc - Cebu Air, Inc. is an aircraft organization, which works worldwide and local air
transport administrations. The Company works a course system serving more than 57 residential
courses and more than 37 global courses with an aggregate of around 2,652 booked week after
week flights.

Universal Robina Corp - Universal Robina Corporation (URC) is one of the biggest marked
shopper sustenance and refreshment item organizations in the Philippines.

Chelsea Holdings - Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp. (C), formerly Chelsea
Logistics Holdings Corp., was incorporated and registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) on August 26, 2016 as Chelsea Shipping Group Corp. primarily to act as a
holding company.

Globe Telecom - Globe Telecom, Inc. takes part in the arrangement of media communications
administrations. It offers advanced versatile correspondences, fixed line interchanges, and
broadband administrations. It works through the Mobile Communication Services and Wireline
Communication Services fragments.
 Results
Even though I did everything that I could, buy, and sell every share that I have to. I still
flunked the game, I did not even earn a single peso within the duration of me playing the game.
The first stock or share that I bought is from BDO and I ended up selling it because I don’t have
any profit from it, same goes for Puregold I also sold it because I was already losing by then my
cash plus profit is only around ₱92,000, I lost hope increasing my profits from there.

The remaining 8 companies that I bought shares from made me increase my profits by
₱6,000. Resulting to have a cash plus profit of ₱98,000. In the end I still did not manage to achieve
the goal of earning the ₱10,000 in profit. I lost but I learned, that’s what matters. I lost big still
managed to make the big lost to a small lost in the last minute by buying more, with the knowledge
that I learned by listening and watching videos in regards to trading and investing in stocks.
 Conclusion
In conclusion, even after discussing about trading stocks, candle-sticks, or how to read
charts, trading is still complex for me. It is not that easy to grasp and your money is on the line
when you trade but, you can still learn from it until you fully understand everything there it.
Playing this simulation or app really pays of the time you invest in it, without this I wouldn’t have
learned the things in regards with this project. I extended my knowledge and learned that risking
is not as bad as it sounds because, you can totally increase your profit, and losing is part of learning.
Without losing you won’t move a step from your path to be better at this.

Therefore, I highly suggest you play this simulation of trading, you will learn a lot and you
will be hooked on playing to the point that I, myself is wanting to trade stocks in the near future
when I am able to do. It piques my interest further with pursuing my academic track, because, it is
diverting, very intuitive, it practices my decision-making skills in regards with everything, it
improves my critical analyzation skills, and critical thinking.

Hence, don’t do anything irrational, think rationally with every move you make, because
it will improve how we comprehend everything. By doing so it decreases your chances of losing,
thus increasing your chances of winning, which is a good sign. Plan your way through everything
but don’t expect that everything will go as planned. I just learned that planning is somewhat a
motivations for me on doing things, and always have a contingency plan, for you to smooth things
even though you will fail at some point, so don’t feel bad if you lose, just keep on going and pave
your way to learning, and winning in the end, so it is a win-win for you even you lose.
