III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Preliminary Activities

Everybody stand up and let us pray. -(One student will lead the prayer.)
(The teacher will call a student to lead the prayer.)

Good Morning, class! -Good morning, Sir Jomar! It’s nice to see you today!

Before you take your sits, please arrange your chairs -Yes, Sir!
properly and pick up some pieces of paper if there’s any.

Secretary kindly list down the names of absent today. -Yes, Sir!

Before we start our class this morning, I want you to be -Teacher presents the house rules. (B.R.O)
aware with our house rules:
B – Behave
R – Respect
O – Obey

So when I raise one of these letters, then you have to

simply follow. Whenever a member of the group does
not follow, a demerit of points will be given. Understand? -Yes, Sir!

B. Review
“6 PICTURES—2 WORDS”
This activity is somehow similar to a famous
mobile game, 4 PICS, 1 WORD.
This strategy will be done by guessing what are
the words depicted by the picture.

Do you know how to play this game? --Yes, Sir!

Six pictures will be shown to you and you have to guess
the two words depicted by the picture. Ready? -Ready, Sir!

Well then, let’s play! -Students are getting ready for the activity.

(The teacher will show through powerpoint the 6 pictures

and students have to guess the answer.) -Students are guessing the words.

What are the two words depicted by the picture, again?

-GAS LAWS, Sir!
Very good! Our last topic was about gas laws. This time
we will have a new topic. But before that, I have here
candies since I want you to be comfortable. Do you like to
have one? -Sure, Sir!

(Teacher instructs students to only pick 1 candy per

student and tell them to keep it first. They will eat it later
part). -Each student have already picked up one candy.

C. Motivation.
EXPERIMENT TIME!

This morning, we will engage ourselves to a new topic.

Are you all excited? -Yes, Sir! We are so excited.

In this activity, you will be grouped into four (4). Do you

still have with you the candy? I need you to look for your
group mates through the color of the candy you have.

ALL YELLOW, ONE GROUP

ALL RED, ONE GROUP
ALL GREEN, ONE GROUP
ALL ORANGE, ONE GROUP

Before you proceed to your group mates, I will give you

the procedures of the activity.
(Instructions are projected on the powerpoint
presentation)

Do not worry because I have also included the procedure

in our envelope. You will perform this experiment by -The materials needed are vinegar, plastic cups, 3 tbsp. of
group. Can anyone read the materials needed? baking soda and guide questions.

Now, you can proceed to your groupmates but ensure to

avoid running. At the count of 10, your group should have -Yes, Sir! (Slowly the students are now meeting up their

Red Group right behind the Yellow, Green on the left
side, and Orange Group will stay behind the Green
Group. Is that clear?

Of course, since we will be doing an experiment, we

anything from your materials.

(The teacher will let the students perform the experiment

and facilitates the whole process of it).

Now, what happened to your experiment?

-Bubbles were formed sir, It is very amazing! There is
reaction happened between the vinegar and the baking
soda.
Yes, absolutely right! Bubbles were formed when you mix
vinegar with baking soda. What else did you observe?
-The odor of the vinegar, sir is strong. It smells sour.
Correct! What about the color and texture of baking
soda? -The color of baking soda sir is white and the texture is
powdery.
Correct, again! You have a very impressive observations,
class! Now, what do you think is our topic?
-The topic for this morning, Sir is all about Chemical
Reaction.

D. Presentation of Lesson
So this morning, our new topic is about Chemical
Reaction. Before we proceed, I need you to read of
objectives for today.
First row read the first objective; -Students are reading the first objective.
Second row read the second objective. -Students are reading the second objective.
And last, third row, read the third objective. - Students are reading the third objective.

E. Unlocking of Terms
I believe that as we go along with our discussion this
morning, there are words that may not be familiar to us.
These are:

a. Chemical reaction
b. Odor
c. Color
d. Texture
e. Heat

Using the words pasted on the board, I want you to

match it with its corresponding definition as provided as
well.
-The student 1 called match the unfamiliar word to its

(This is true to the other 3 words. Teacher will call 3 -Student 2, 3, and 4 went to the board to answer the
students to match the words to its definition) activity.

Very good, class! All your answers are correct. These are
the terms that we will encounter this morning. I want you -Okay, Sir!
to familiarize them since you will use it in your activity.
-Yes, Sir!
This time, we will have different activities. Are you ready?

F. Activity Proper -Students start to read the rubric provided.

To begin our activity, allow me to give you the rubrics
(See the last page of this lesson plan for the rubric).
-Students read the rubric.

Group 4 – Dramatize a situation where in a Group 3 Guide Questions:
chemical reaction occurs. This group will be a. Cola and Chlorine:
provided a scenario to be acted out. --What happened when cola and chlorine mixed?
b. Cesium and Water:
--What have you observed in this experiment? Is
there any change in color?
c. Copper and Iron Sulfate: What happened to the
color of the copper? What about the texture? Did
the size change?

Do not worry class for I have ensured that instructions -Very clear, Sir!
and procedure regarding your activity is attached in your
envelope. Rubrics, markers and other materials you need
for your activity is well-prepared. After which, of course
you need to report your work. Is that clear? -The students are now performing the assigned task to

task. Your time starts, now!

PROCESSING OF ACTIVITY:

Are we now ready for the reporting? -Ready Sir.

I will use a randomizer to choose what group number will
report first.

Group number ___ to report first. -A reporter from the group mentioned will do the
reporting.

(After all the groups have presented, teachers proceeds

to the next part)

Well done, class! Good job! I can see that you have really
learned a lot from your activity today.
(Teacher then gives input to the students regarding the
topic)

GENERALIZATION:

Based form your activity Group 1, what do we mean by - Chemical Reaction is a process that occurs naturally by
chemical reaction? which two substances are combined forming new
substance or product.
Very good!

What about odor? anyone?

-Odor – a quality of something that stimulates the
Nice one! olfactory organ

And last, what about color and texture? Color – a quality such as red, blue, green, yellow that you
see when you look at something; and
Texture – the way that something feels when you touch
it.
Class, the color, odor, texture are some evidences
involved in chemical reaction. How will you know that a - When something happens. It may change in appearance
chemical reacts? or it will change the substance totally to a new one.

Correct! Very well said!

Can you cite another example which tells the whole class
that a chemical reaction occurs? -When milk is spilled with vinegar, Sir.
-The color of the ring changes, maybe because it is fake
or there is too much acid in the body.
So, did you now understand our topic?
-Yes, Sir!
Any question?
-No, Sir!
If you do not have any question, kindly please settle
yourselves properly and get your ballpen. We will have a
short quiz.
