Description:
Reliance's Jamnagar complex is the largest industrial project ever implemented in the Indian corporate
sector.
Planning Developing and coordination of Heath, Safety and Environmental discipline for the construction
phase of the 3rd expansion of Jamnagar Refinery ( J3 Project) following world class standards.
Reliance, a company which activities span exploration and production of oil and gas, petroleum refining
and marketing, petrochemicals (polyester, fiber intermediates, plastics and chemicals) and textiles is the
only Indian company included in the Fortune Global 500
The J3 project is setting up a cracker unit in Jamnagar Refinery ( the largest refining complex in the
world), in northwestern India, that will produce ethylene, propylene, low density polythene and mono
ethylene glycol and will include also a coke gasification unit that will fuel power plants in the complex.
Additionally, the project includes a plant to make paraxylene and a unit to manufacture butyl rubber.
The objective of RPMG HSE department is to maximize safety performance, prevent injuries, damage to
assets and environment and minimize wastage during construction phase of the different Projects.
As Manager of HSE for the J3 Project. I am responsible for the initial planning, coordination and staffing to
prepare for the execution / construction phase of the project and for the review and validation of al HSE
aspects related to the EPC Contracts and for the administrative coordination of HSE matters with all
projects, EPC contractors and subcontractors at site up until commissioning of the different plants.

IOT infrastructure & energy Services Limited is the EPC contractor for 2x300MW power plant of Maruti
Clean Coal & Power Limited, Bandhakhar (Approx. 35KM from Korba town)

Key Deliverables:
As a HSSE - Manager I use to collect observation report from the site safety officer’s on daily basis.
By referring that data where ever action is required I schedule meeting with Contractor’s management to
get action plan from their team members.
Based on each and every activity I use to prepare work method statement with the help of their
engineering team, supervisor team, worker representative will be involved to prepare the same.
After preparing the method statement I use to prepare Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
After assuring the adequate control measures it will communicate to the team who is going to carry out the
activity.
Committee meeting will be organized once in a month for checking the compliance according to the
standard.
If we found in any activity the site team needs training (based on injury/accident records) it will be
organized during the month to maintain the standard requirement.
Emergency response procedure (EPR) training use to be conducted once in a month to prepare the site
people to be aware/prepare of emergency situations.
Preparing monthly EHS statistics and circulated to the management team.
Conducting internal audit quarterly and the audit report will be circulated to the management for
continual improvement.
Legal advice based on Indian Factories Act, National Building Code, Building and Other Construction work
Act, Indian Electricity Act, Storage of Flammables, etc.
Coordinating with the purchase department for purchasing standard personal protective equipment.
Training to site safety team related to safety standards.
Implementation of permit to work system for critical activities i.e. excavation, electrical maintenance,
welding work, rigging and hoisting operation, working at height, night work permit, etc.
