VAYU -​ Air quality index monitor. 

 
 

Vayu is an air quality device dedicated to helping Railways AC coach passengers 

better understand the air they breathe. 
It monitors the air in the AC Coach, analyzes it and provides it on the display. 
 
 

Every day thousands of people rely on Indian Railways to reach various places 
securely and on time.  

A small device with multiple sensors to track the air quality of the environment in 
AC Coach. 
 

What does VAYU offer? 

 

Monitor 
Vayu measures the indoor air quality in AC coach by reading six data points in the 
air: Particle Matter: PM 10, PM 2.5., Carbon Dioxide CO2., Sulphur Dioxide SO2., 
Volatile Organic Compounds VoC’s, Temperature, Humidity. 
 

Analyze 
Real-time data will provide deep knowledge of your surroundings and helping to 
understand what is causing the poor air quality as it's happening. 
Vayu should measure Particle Matter: PM 10, PM 2.5., Carbon Dioxide CO2., Sulphur 
Dioxide SO2., Volatile Organic Compounds VoC’s, Temperature, Humidity. It then 
should analyze their aggregate levels with provided standards to determine air 
quality. A colour-coded score from 0-100 has to be displayed on a display. 
0 being poor​ air quality and 1​ 00 being pure​. 
 
Individual graph of five dots will represent each sensor in order. Particle Matter: PM 
10, PM 2.5., Carbon Dioxide CO2., Sulphur Dioxide SO2., Volatile Organic Compounds 
VoC’s, Temperature, Humidity. Fewer dots means the air is healthy. 
 
The goal is to have green dots and avoid any red or orange ones. 
 
The three colour-coded states communicate with you like a stoplight.​ ​Green is for 
Good​, y
​ ellow for Fair​ and r​ ed for Poor​.
