The German class E94 has been built in greater numbers as a war locomotive. In 1940 an-
other loco has drawn E94 003 out of the factory’s hall into the open air, so that the pho-
tographer can do his work. The layout scene was built by Jürgen Kottsieper.
January
The Metronom trains are aproduct of the modern times. For several years it also connects
Hanover to Hamburg. The class 146 is going with its five-car train through Lower Saxony
to the North. The train has just passed the farm of Kai Wüstermann (Freundeskreis der
Spur-Z Hamburg; Friends circle of Z scale Hamburg).
February
February is still a dark month and we meet the steam engine in the light of street lamps.
But it is also the month of the international toy fair, and certainly the new products 2010
will make a new ray of hope.
March
On a desert diorama built by John Cubbin under US typical prototypes – Jürg Rüedi has
got an identical one – the SD70M of the Union Pacific is leaving with hopper cars of the
same company the tunnel exit. It is still early in the morning and the heat still bearable.

The flair of a typical English working-class city Graham Jones has designed on this lay-
out, which he showed us in 2008 during the Geseke Z scale weekend. Last month there
has been a new edition of this most important Z scale meeting all over Europe. The just
starting intercity train of British Railways reminds us a time when the railroads in England
have not been sold to private investors.
May
This Swiss double unit is called Re 10/10 (by SZL) and pulls a heavy tank car train up the
ramps of the “Julierbahn”. Nice to see how the red locos raise from the fresh looking

The childhood dream of Götz Guddas is going with a class 8970 by Bahls over the river
bridge: “Edelweißbahn” – in Z scale created by Götz himself.

July
In Juli we are going to enjoy our holidays on the beach or in the mountains – why not go-
ing by train? The class 221 passes by the German Alps with an express train of pre-war
passenger cars on Jürgen Kottsieper’s module layout.
August
The year is 1905: The opening ceremony’s train with the class T3b of „Großherzoglich-
Mecklenburgische Friedrich-Franz-Eisenbahn“ is accompanied by 12 white-dressed mai-
dens to Klütz station – along the camera of the photographer. This scene was built by
Hubert Halbey historically correct.
September
Red Rock Rail: The EMD SD45 of the Union Pacific (AZL) is pulling a heavy train of mod-
ern tank cars, created by Kurt Lück himself in a small series, through the prairie land-
scape full of big cacti.
October
The days are getting shorter, the nights are cooler - fall is here. On the layout of Andreas

November
Gray November days are best spent working at Z scale models and layouts. Götz Guddas
has created the old Prussian baggage car and a prototype of the later so called “blunder-
busses”, which are leaving Güglingen station now with a mixed train pulled by engine no.
98 7502.
December
Encounter in the snowy mountains of the American North: At a tunnel exit two freight
trains are appearing in front of the photographer’s lenses. On the top line a SD70M and a
SD40-T2 are going, on the bottom line we see a SD40-2 „Snoot Nose“ together with a
SD45. They belong to the railroad companies of Union Pacific and Southern Pacific and
