LEARNING PLAN IN MATH 8

LESSON 5

July 15 – 18, 2019

I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARD
The learners demonstrate understanding of key concepts of factors of
polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and
inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities
in two variables and linear functions.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learners are able to formulate real-life problems involving factors of
polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and
inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities
in two variables and linear functions, and solve these problems accurately
using a variety of strategies.
C.LEARNING COMPETENCIES
The learners factor completely different types of polynomials (polynomials
with common monomial factor, difference of two squares, sum and
difference of two cubes, perfect square trinomials, and general trinomials).
The learners illustrate rational algebraic expressions.
The learners simplify rational algebraic expressions.
The learners perform operations on rational algebraic expressions.
The learners illustrate the rectangular coordinate system and its uses.
The learners illustrate linear equations in two variables.
The learners illustrate the slope of a line.
The learners find the slope of a line given two points, equation, and graph.
The learners write the linear equation 𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏𝑦 = 𝑐 in the form 𝑦 = 𝑚𝑥 + 𝑏
and vice versa.

II. PROCEDURES
A. INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
A. Preparation
1. Routinary activities
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of attendance
 Review

1. Activity
DRILL and PRACTICE
- The teacher would ask the students some questions and they
have to write their answers on a whiteboard.

2. Analysis
The teacher would discuss the answers to the questions.

3. Abstraction
K–W–L
- The teacher would ask the students to write what they already
know about the lesson, what they want to know about the
lesson, and what they’ve learned about the lesson.

4. Application
a. The length of one side of a squared fence is (𝟓𝒙 + 𝟑𝒚) 𝒄𝒎. What is
the area?
b. The length of a rectangular cabinet is (𝟒𝒙 − 𝟕) 𝒄𝒎 and its width is
(𝟐𝒙 + 𝟏) 𝒄𝒎. What is the area of the cabinet?
c. The rectangular office table of the president has the following
dimensions: (𝟓𝒙 − 𝟐𝒚)𝒎 and (𝟓𝒙 + 𝟐𝒚)𝒎. What is its area?
III. ASSESSMENT
The teacher would give a puzzle where the students would have to arrange
them accordingly.

IV. ASSIGNMENT
The teacher would ask the students to answer Chapter Test 3 on pages 79 –
81.
