ABSTRACT

We all know that life has up and downs. Sometimes you’re happy but
sometimes sad. Just like mathematics it’s not always easy for you to solve
and input equations to get the final answer. We all know that it feels good
when you get the right answer via solving it by yourself.

In this research, the researchers surveyed the selected fifty grade 10

students through questionnaire to gather the data. It is done to answer the
research title and also the research questions of the study.

As a result, the researchers found out that the main effect of

Mathsanay is to enhance students’ comprehension in terms of problem
solving. In addition, Mathsanay can boosts students’ self-confidence and
can improve students’ class participation.

The researchers recommends that students must be serious in

answering the Mathsanay it is not because that it is just an exercise that
can increase your grade but to assess you that can enhances your
comprehension and analyzing in solving problems.
I. CONTEXT/RATIONALE

“Life is like math, if it goes too easy, then something went wrong”

-unknown

We all know that life has up and downs. Sometimes you’re

happy but sometimes sad. Just like mathematics it’s not always easy for
you to solve and input equations to get the final answer. We all know that it
feels good when you get the right answer via solving it by yourself.

Mathematics helps us have a better mathematical skills and

reasoning abilities. Mathsanay contains the past, present and the future
lessons of the students which them to solve it easily without using
calculator. A simple set of problem can cause a big impact for the students
who will take Mathsanay. One of the effects of Mathsanay is to enhance
the speed of the students in solving and to improve the mastery of the
students. Mathematics is used everywhere, every minute and every single
day of our life.

In this research, the researchers will give insights for the teachers,
students, parents for them to know the effects of Mathsanay in the
development of mathematical skills of the students and for the researchers
that this research will serve as their guide for their study.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

 For the students to determine the effects of Mathsanay in the

development of their mathematical skills and also for them to identify
the possible outcomes of Mathsanay and lastly to determine the ways
that can help them to improve the mathematical skills.

 For the teachers to help the students on developing the mathematical

skills and to understand more Mathematics.

 For the future researchers, this study will serves as their guide in
making their research and to make their research easily.

II. LITERATURE REVIEW AND STUDY

A measurement system for collecting student achievement data is an

important piece to all mathematics intervention programs. Accountability for
student growth and academic progress is placed on local schools, and
extends to individual classrooms and teachers. All students are entitled to
receive high-quality, research based instruction in the core academic
areas. This high quality instruction should align to the state and /or federal
standards system. To ensure that all students are receiving research
based, quality instruction, all students should be screened with a universal
screening assessment system to pretest, monitor and posttest against
grade-level benchmarks and standards no less than three times per school
year(National Center on Response to Intervention,2010).
After universal screenings have been conducted on every students
are identified as performing below grade-level expectations, diagnostic
screenings should be conducted. Diagnostic screenings provide educators
with additional information about what students’ strengths and weaknesses
are and what skills and concepts need remediation (Lembke et.al.,2012).

Providing the learners with a strong mathematics foundation can play

an important role in future academic achievement. Researchers have found
that early years’ math skills can have a strong predictive power for future
academic achievement (Duncan et.al.,2007).

Mental math skills are important and are often used in commerce,
work and everyday activities, yet many students are calculator dependent.
Mental math strategies are different than paper and pencil strategies and
need to be cultivated (Victoria State Govenment, 2009)/

III. RESEARCH QUESTIONS

1) What are the effects of Mathsanay in the development of mathematical

skills of Grade 10 students of Bagbag National High School?

2) Do you think that Mathsanay can boosts students’ self-confidence?

3) Do you think that Mathsanay can improve students’ class participation?

IV. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

The research focuses on the effects of Mathsanay in the

development of the mathematical skills in Grade 10 students of Bagbag
National High School S.Y 2018-2019. We are pursuing to identify and
determine the effects of Mathsanay for us to be able to help those Grade
10 students and also to influence other grade level students taking
Mathsanay.

This research is only limited on selected Grade 10 students of

Bagbag National High School and we are hoping that this research will
contribute not only in Grade 10 but to all students and incoming students of
Bagbag National High School.

V. RESEARCH AND METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the procedures and techniques used in the

study. In this research, the researchers used the questionnaire method as
an instrument to gather the data. The researchers had surveyed the
selected fifty Grade 10 students through questionnaire. It is done to answer
the research main goal and research questions of the study.

DATA ANALYSIS METHOD

To be able to determine the outcome of research purpose all data

gathered are tallied and statistically treated using frequency, mean and

VI. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

In accordance with findings or results of the study, the following

questions were answered:

1) What are the effects of Mathsanay in the development of mathematical

skills of Grade 10 students of Bagbag National High School?

The effect that got the highest data which has a a rate of 4.6 is “it
enhances students comprehension in terms of solving problem”. It is
cleared that the effect of Mathsanay in the development of Mathematical
skills is to enhance students’ comprehension in solving the problem.

2). Do you think that Mathsanay can boosts students’ self-confidence?

Yes, because 80% of the respondents had chosen “yes” that

Mathsanay can boosts students’ self-confidence.

3). Do you think that Mathsanay can improve students’ class participation?

Yes, because 80% of the students had chosen “yes” that Mathsanay
can improve the students’ class participation
VII. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

CONCLUSION

Our research is all about the effects of Mathsanay in the development

of mathematical skills of grade 10 students of Bagbag National High
School. So for us to know, we conducted a survey, Questionnaire Form, to
the selected sections: Saint Dominic. Saint John, Saint Francis, Saint
Augustine, Saint Joseph, Saint Matthew, and Saint Anthony.

After we gathered and analyzed the resulted data, we conclude that

out of fifty (50) students, the highest rate which got the scale of 4.6 was to
enhance students’ comprehension in terms of problem solving. On the
other hand, the lowest rate which got the scale of 4.28% was that
mathsanay serves as a recall of the students past lessons.

RECOMMENDATION

The researchers recommends that students must be serious in

answering the Mathsanay it is not because that it is just an exercise that
can increase your grade but to assess you that can enhances your
comprehension and analyzing in solving problems. The researchers are
hoping that all students of Bagbag National High School will not make fun
of it and will cooperate in answering Mathsanay. It is because that
Mathsanay can boosts students’ self-confidence and can improve the
students’ class participation
