What changes about your approach to songs knowing that you would be
bringing other artists in to work on them?
2. Were they specific aspects to each artist that made the idea of collaborating
with them especially appealing?
3. After playing for 30 plus years, what makes a good drum set? What are you
playing on now?
Started at 10, heroes stuart Copeland, pink Floyd, drummers that were
slighty different that [Hums A-ha’s “Take On Me”], our teacher was the
teacher from Whiplash. “You get out of it what you put it. If you play a little
bit half-assed and don’t really practice, you can’t rest on your laurels.”
Drumming has always been about improvising. I’m my own drummer. 30
years we’ve become a killer team.
4. Who are some bands or musicians (specifically drummers) that you think are
doing really good work?
5. What’s it like touring with a band you’ve been a part of for so long?
