THE RAFFLESIA

The world is changing nowadays, trees were converted into high rise buildings, and population is
increasing from time to time. Trees loses its value and function in the society, infrastructures are build from
one corner to another. The population is unstoppable, great minds were already born, making the world a
little bit easier to live, doing and accomplishing tasks in a small amount of time. But as the world develops,
as new innovations were built, as new ideas were form, some loses the value of one thing because a new
mode of technology has produced.

As time passes, life becomes a lot easier for people to do certain works. Unlike in the previous
years, it is not that easy to do chores. It takes a lot of time; some consumes hours to finish one task only for
the day. The mode of communication is much faster, no more home sick feelings. But as time passes by,
some were set aside because of the discovery of new innovations.

With the new technology, the value of nature decreases. The value of nature loses its essence in
the society; trees were cut down to produce buildings, factories or the other. Also, while on the stage of
developing the community, there were consequences behind it. People faced natural calamities like
earthquakes, intense floods that destroy houses, buildings etc.

In this project proposal, I have conceptualized and design an infrastructure that is naturally and
environmentally friendly. This proposal will lessen the cause of flooding in the community. This idea is
formed from problem face by the community which is the decrease of our natural resources which causes
natural calamities in return. The design of this building was acquire from the largest flower in the world, the
Rafflesia arnoldii flower. With this idea, I have named my project as “The Covered Green Park Gallery”.

This project is set to build in Pampanga, mainly San Fernando in front of the Northwalk II building,
beside the S&R supermarket, located at Dolores, City of San Fernando Pampanga. This green park is not
just an ordinary park as what others seem to visualize about the park. This park consists of features that
will not just be a tourist destination but it can also benefit the people in the community. The concept of the
park was acquired with the idea of petals of a flower.

Since we are on a developing country, I have conceptualized this design in a sustainable way of
architecture. Sustainable in a sense it will minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings in the
moderation and efficient use of materials, energy and developmental space and the ecosystem at large.

As mentioned earlier, this covered green park is not just an ordinary park as what others think and
imagined. This park consists of some stalls inside to visit and the same time does some marketing. Unlike
other parks, this park is covered. Those parks that we know are open, free to all and at the same time are
just normal parks that have place for amusement like slides, etc. This park also has its form of amusement
but in another way. One main feature of this park is by having planted crops, vegetables and fruits
plantation on its side. Once these crops are fully grown, it will be harvested and be sold into the market.
Other features will be seen once you enter inside the park. Inside the park consists of a market, a gallery
at the same time. The market that you will see inside, the fruits and vegetables that are made for selling
came from the harvested crops outside the park. This park is also made for learning, with a gallery inside it.
The gallery contains different types of plants, seeds being framed, fruits written in a scientific form. This is
not a typical type of park that we used to know, but it also has restaurants inside it. With the parks we are
visiting to, parks contain stalls that sell different foods like barbecues, snacks, drinks. With this restaurant
inside the park, they sell something different, something unusual from other parks. The restaurant cooks
and prepares different dishes made from the fruits and vegetables harvested outside the park. The features
of the park are not just purely nature, but it will put some entertainment to people especially those who are
loves nature itself.

To conclude, this covered green park gallery concept will most likely help the society to appreciate
and love the presence of nature once again because of the planted trees around it. Also, it will lessen the
possibility of natural calamities in the community. Given that we are on a modern generation were
technology is at its highest peak, buildings that are as high as the sky; the main purpose of this covered
green park is that amidst of all the developments happening in the community, people will still value the
importance of nature most especially during natural calamities.
