SIMEON
BLOCK-A

1. Single-duct variable air temperature with 100% fresh air (SDVATF)

- This system is used where contamination produced within the conditioned room is
not to be recirculated and a full flushing with outdoor air is to be maintained.

2. Single-duct variable air temperature with recirculation of room air (SDVATR)

- This is a common system adopted for occupied large single volume rooms, offices,
atria, theatres, sport halls, swimming pools, factories, clean rooms and mainframe
computer facilities. The recirculation allows retention of the conditioned air that
been expensively produced with only the correct quantity of fresh air being mitted.

3. Single-duct variable air temperature for multiple zones (SDVATM)

- This is an adaption of the individual zone single duct system with recirculation but is
designed for multiroom application such as offices. Additional heater coil called
terminal reheaters, are installed at the room end of the ducts. Each room has an air
temperature sensor that modulates the reheat coil water-flow control valve to
maintain the desired room condition.
4. Single-duct variable air volume (SDVAV)
- Single duct variable air volume system has become the standard employed for office
buildings because of its economy and controllability when applied to rooms of
similar use for comfort air conditioning. It is a cooling system with the air handling
unit providing the lowest air temperature required. Reduction in room cooling load,
due o variation in the weather or by presence of additional heat gains from
occupants or electrical equipment, are met by changing the supply-air quantity with
terminal variable air volume controllers until the room air temperature is stabilized.
5. Single-duct variable air volume and temperature (SDVAVT)

6. Single-duct variable air volume with separate perimeter heating system (SDVAVPH)

7. Single duct with induction units (SDI)

- A VAV air handler provides primary air to unpowered terminal units that induce
plenum or room air into the supply airstream. The combination of primary and
induced air provide a constant airflow.

8. Single duct with fan coil units (SDFC)

- A single duct supplies conditioned primary fresh air only from an air-handling unit in
the plantroom into each room. An extract air duct removes 90% to 100% of fresh air
supply quantity and discharges it to the atmosphere. Each room has a fan coil unit
within the false ceiling, within the floor or below the sill, which recirculates room air
and mixes it with the primary fresh air.
9. Single duct with reversible heat pumps (SDRHP)
- The water circuit acts as the heat source in winter and the heat sink in summer. The
system is ideally suited fir buildings that have simultaneous heating and cooling
loads: for example, those with large glazing areas that are oriented both south and
north. Each room or building module has a self-contained refrigeration system
comprising a reciprocating or rotary compressor, an air heat-exchange coil, a water
heat-exchange coil, a refrigerant reversing valve, controls, filter and recirculation
fan.`

10. Dual duct with variable air temperature (DDVT)

- control in both heating and cooling modes with a minimum amount of energy
consumption. Typically system used with this control package provide all the
ventilation air though the cold deck only.
11. Dual duct with variable air volume (DDVAV)
- The VAV terminal unit consists of a split plenum that receives air from both heat and
cold-supply ducts. The plenum is fitted within a false ceiling and conditioning air is
admitted into zone through a perimeter slot or other diffuser.

12. Independent unit through the walls (IU)

- These are free- standing air-conditioning units containing refrigeration, electrical
water heating, air filtration, controls and a fresh air supply ducted from the outside
air. They are often suitable for installation in existing buildings when multizone
ducted system is impractical.

13. Split system (SI)

- A refrigeration condensing unit, comprising the compressor, air-cooled condenser,
condenser fan, controls and weather- proof casing, is located outdoors, usually the
roof of an office, shop, restaurant or computer room. Liquid refrigerant leaves the
outdoor unit and is piped indoors to the room cooler that has the expansion valve,
refrigerant evaporator cooling coil and controls.
14. Reversible heat pump (HP)
- work in either direction to provide heating or air conditioning (cooling) to the
internal space. They employ a reversing valve to reverse the flow of refrigerant from
the compressor through the condenser and evaporation coils.

-
15. Chilled ceiling (CC)
- A chilled beam is a type of radiation/convection HVAC system (as is an alternative
design known as "chilled ceiling") designed to heat and cool large buildings. The
chilled beam is distinguishable from the chilled ceiling.
-
16. District ceiling (DC)
- Means the centralized production and distribution of cooling energy. Chilled water is
delivered via an underground insulated pipeline to office, industrial and residential
buildings to cool the indoor air of the buildings within a district.
