MailCleaner 2017

If you are using Windows to administer VM, please use your Hypervisor shell access
or Putty when you'll need to
use SSH.

*** INTRO ***

Dear MailCleaner users,

You'll find in this archive a VHDX file.
It should be enough to install but we'll try to provide information
about each thing to check.

If you are not completely sure about what you do here or never did it before,
you should read all this documentation before starting manipulating. You could
learn
some useful things.

*** VIRTUAL PC / AZURE ***

VA = "Virtual Appliance"

1) Create a VM
2) If asked, answer Linux Debian 8 (64bits) or nearest answer. The VM should use
generation 1 so with no UEFI.
It was tested and working on a 8.2 hardware version of Hyper-V.
3) Attach the VHDX file as disk to your new VM
3) We advise to set at least two cores and 4Go RAM
4) Set your network if needed as usual
5) Start the VM

*** NETWORK PART ***

Once the installation of the Virtual Machine is finished, you can connect your
favorite browser to the MailCleaner
wizard configurator: https://yourhost:4242
Where yourhost refers to either the hostname or the IP address.

MailCleaner is configured by default for DHCP, so if you have DHCP enabled on your
network, it will get an address.
You could check your equipment to see what address it got (or set a specific MAC in
your VM preference).
If you do not have DHCP on your network MailCleaner will be accessible on his
configurator interface 192.168.1.42
Note: Please disable this interface after installation ! => "Configuration -> Base
system -> Network settings"

So your VM / VA launched correctly and you want to access it, so let's try some
things:
https://YOUR-VM-IP/admin/
Don't forget the final '/' and retype two times the address if needed as our Base
Url redirection can be tricky
until it has been set correctly.
Reminder: Default account is "admin" using password: MCPassw0rd
This is the default password for absolutely all so you'll change it by using the
"configurator" Here:
"Configuration -> Base system -> Wizard"

Of course, once you get a web Access, you'll probably want to set manual IP here:
"Configuration -> Base system -> Network settings"

*** SHELL ***

You could get a shell on your VM using different methods:

If you have DHCP on your network, find your IP or scan range for port 25 open !
then:
ssh root@YOUR-VA-IP

OR

Open a terminal on the VM using your Hypervisor

Of course after you got a shell access, you'll be welcome by a small wizard
allowing at least to change root pass
and set networking configuration to static IP (as well as Keyboard layout).
You can access this wizard again by executing:
/usr/mailcleaner/scripts/installer/installer.pl

Don't hesitate to give your feedback on our forum at: http://forum.mailcleaner.org/

Thank you !
