Below are the essential steps to become ISO certified.

Discover
Every company is special and unique. The discovery phase results in knowing where you are
and what’s needed to gain ISO certification.

Discovery Session. What’s unique

about your business that will impact
your certification?

The discovery session lets us fully

understand your business and
introduces you to the certification
process. You’ll know exactly what’s
required and what to expect.

GAP Assessment. What do you already have, and what do you need to become certified?

GAP Assessments are conducted on site to find gaps in your systems and understand how
each department functions. The result is a thorough assessment report that explains what you
have and what you still need.

Orientation. ISO Standards evolve over time, and it’s essential that you are up to date.

Our awareness orientation program provides the guidance which your team needs to
understand the requirement as what is needed from each personnel.

Document
During the Document phase, clearly lay out how your company works and how each of the
departments and groups fit together. Companies often find that simply creating clear
documentation results in smoother and more profitable operations.

Department Interviews Your people are experts in
your business. Each department will appoint a “lead”
who can explain and approve proposed procedures.

For each department, we are looking to understand

where they fit in the overall process:

• What inputs do they receive from other

departments or from outside your company?
• What outputs do they deliver to other departments
or to your customers?
• How do they go about converting the inputs to the
outputs? How does the work get done?
• Where does each department fit in the company’s
overall process flow?

Many companies find this step to be invaluable. Over

time, your people adopt assumptions and expectations
about how the company works. Managers are often surprised at the lack of alignment and
clarity.

Documentation and Implementation. After learning how each department works and how all
the departments fit together, the next step is to draft Procedures, Work Instructions, Use Cases,
and Forms.

The most important documentation aspect is ensuring that PPAP, Pilot Runs, SPC Reporting
and any specific and special requirement is also aligned with the TS requirements.

Our consultants know that these are new elements which your team members are learning and
help through each aspect in depth.

As part of our implementation process we help with all above aspects as well as helping clear
bottlenecks and associated problems created by the course of this program. Of course, your
documentation must be updated as soon as changes are identified.

An effective Implementation requires monitoring it to verify process owners are following the
new system. It’s usually a good practice to monitor Smart Goals using dashboards for KPI.

Internal Audit. An Internal Audit lets you gather information and know your company’s level of
compliance with standard. If employees are engaged in the Internal audit execution and trained
to perform internal audit per standard this enhances their skill set and makes them understand
the system better. Plus, an internal audit familiarizes your personnel with all organizational
processes. The result is more transparency and a sense of responsibility and ownership of
processes.

Finding problems early in the process prevents delays and saves money as corrections are
implemented before the certification audit. And we go a step ahead by having our expert look at
the Internal Audit reports to see if all reporting is done correctly.

Audit
The actual certification audit verifies that you comply with the ISO standards. It must be
conducted through an independent Certification Body.

Our clients usually rely on us to find a good Certification Body at a reasonable price, and then
have us manage the Certification Body to ensure you receive certification.

Audit Readiness. An on-site Readiness Audit

reviews your organization’s documentation and
analyzes its current compliance with ISO standard.
The external Certification Body will evaluate your
organization’s readiness for the Certification Audit:

• Analysis of information system documentation

and key performance indicators

• Collection of information regarding scope and

related regulatory requirements

• Evaluation of internal audits and management

reviews

• Planning for Certification Audit and

confirmation of audit team requirements

• Determination of readiness for Certification

Certification Audit. You have almost achieved ISO Certification, but there’s one final step. The
Certification Body conducts the official audit necessary for ISO Standard certification.

The duration of this audit depends upon many factors, including, the number of employees, the
number of test or calibration methods, and number of laboratory locations.

After successful completion of the Certification Audit, Certification Body will issue a Certificate of
Registration.

Surveillance. You have become ISO Certified, but to keep your certification, a person from the
Certification Body must return to your company at least once a year.

It’s a routine surveillance visit, and if your process does not change and you follow your
documented process, you will keep your certification.
