Sand testing procedure - moisture content test, permeability test, strength test, grain fineness test. Principles of gating system, functions of gating system , gating ratio, design of gating systems, risers , types and functions of risers. Solidification of casting, special casting processes-centrifugal, investment, die casting, continuous casting, Casting defects. UNIT-II (10 Lectures) JOINING PROCESSES: Classification of welding process, advantages and disadvantages of welding, applications of welding, welded joints ,gas welding , arc welding, MIG and TIG welding, gas cutting.
