INTRODUCTION

The Philippine Education System has undergone series of innovative

changes geared towards the improvement of teaching and learning. New

teaching techniques and tools are introduced into the school system so as to

ensure that learners are provided with quality education, including the utilization

of different hardwares and softwares available to improve teaching-learning

process.

The Department of Education is now into intensifying the use Information,

Communication and Technology (ICT) effective delivery of teaching and learning,

and in the provision of efficient governance and operations directly to learners,

teachers and relevant stakeholders in the field of education.

The integration of Information and Communications Technology into the

K-12 curriculum has been sanctioned by the Department of Education through

aimed at strengthening the Department’s goal of teaching 21st century lifelong

skills into the students, with the aid of any computer and electronic technology

available to the teacher and to the school.

Unfortunately, success is not always possible. In Elementary School of

District, Grade One pupils were observed and based from the observation, it was

recorded that most of the pupils have difficulty in reading and the teacher felt

enormous problems and dilemmas in order to give intervention. Several

strategies had already implemented but there are still many pupils who deemed

to have problems in reading and comprehension.

Considering the aforementioned scenario, the researcher considered it

necessary to study the academic performance of the grade one pupils of

Bantigue Elementary School. The researcher’s competence to conduct this

action research will gear towards the eradication of non - readers and slow

readers and the proper implementation of the school reading program

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

This study aims to assess the academic performance in Mathematics of

Grade 5 Elementary School, school year ___________. Findings will serve as

bases for the implementation of the fully-digitized lesson delivery mode.

Specifically it answered the following questions:

a. What is the reading level of the Grade Five pupils of Bantigue ES

before the implementation of BEST STARS?

b. What is the reading level of Grade One pupils of Bantigue ES after the

implementation of BEST STARS?

c. Is there a significant difference in the reading level of Grade One pupils

of Bantigue ES before and after the implementation of BEST STARS?

METHODOLOGY

PARTICIPANTS – All Grade 8 OHSP learners will serve as the respondents of

this study.

* SOURCES OF DATA/ INFORMATION – The following are the data collection

tools which will be utilized this study:

Research constructed questionnaire

Pretest/ post-test

Summative test scores

* DATA GATHERING METHODS

In developing the instructional learning material, the concept of ADDIE will utilize

where:

Phase I- The preparation stage involves administering the pretest using the

teacher-made test validated by the Grade 8 teachers. It will use to determine the

least mastered skills of the Grade 8 OHSP learners. The contents and
components of the MAD Tool: Contextualized and Localized IM will base on the

result of the pretest.

Phase II – The development stage involves the following phases; deciding on the

format of the module, the process of writing the module and the initial revisions

needed to improve the first draft of the module.

Phase III – In the validation stage, English teachers (peers and experts) will ask

to assess the module in terms of its objectives
