The Act was enacted more than a decade but the implementation of the
Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) in the Barangay has been
problematic. The Barangay has been challenged to fully comply with the
provisions of the law likewise influencing the constituents to actively
participate in the implementation at the community level. The following key
issues/factors affecting the implementation of the ESWM in the Barangay
during the action planning last February 12, 2017:
No MRF
Lack of Enforcement
No Discipline
No proper Segregation
No proper collection schedule
Clogged drainage
However, those issues have been slowly addressed. The Barangay has now a
MRF for recyclable only. With the help of CCTV the Barangay are now
enforcing the ordinance of the Barangay. Moreover, Segregation is now on
60% more or less. Regular de-clogging is being implemented.
