Induction Program (2018:19) at SCET

1. Initial Phase:

In this phase we were given introduction of our college. First of all we all gave
our introduction in class. We meet many faculties from our department and
other department. We know the history of Sarvajanik colleague society. After
this there was a small orientation programme at N.J Seminar hall. In this
orientation programme our principal gave a small speech about how different
field of engineering can be useful in industry. It was really effective speech on
first day of colleague. After that speech our mentors and class teachers
arranged karaoke singing programme. But nobody sang then our xyz mam
sang one song. After that our two session of first day were finished.
After the lunch break, it was a session of campus visit by our mentors and class
teachers. We visited our computer department. We visited our all laboratories
and staff room. We also visited our library and sitting area of our colleague.
Canteen and parking area was also being visited by us. After that our first day
of colleague was ended with great fun and excitement.

2. Regular phase
a) Physical Activity:
In the physical activity we have done two kind of physical activities one is yoga
related and the other one is sports related. We done yoga in six sessions and
sports in six sessions. In yoga we learnt about basic exercises and then we learn
many Aasanas and meditation.
In first session of yoga we
have learnt that how
exercises help us to relax our
body and release stress.
Then we learnt about Surya
Namaskar and then we
learnt about meditation and
Pranayama. I realize that

yoga is very good physical activity for mind and body. It helps us to gain peace
of mind. In this activity we also learnt about 7 phases of our existence. It is very
important to maintain balance between them. We can control all the phase
with our breathing.
Another physical activities were sports related activities. In this part we have
done many activities like push-ups, sit-ups, long jump and running. In this part
we knew about various games. We also knew about many competitions related
with sports. Sport is very important for our health.

b) Creative Arts:

In the creative arts we learnt about music, drama, painting and dance. First of
all we learnt about music. In those sessions we knew that how music helps to
relax our mind. We can also improve our creativity by learning the music then
we take a brief knowledge about Indian classical music and various form of it.
We also learnt to identify the Indian music and western music. We also learnt
about many instrument of Indian music and western music. In the Indian
classical music there are many instruments but in the western music there are
only four instruments.

In the painting and drawing session we learnt to draw a 3d painting. We also


made a paper bag using newspaper. It is very easy to draw a 3d painting. In the
dance we prepared small dance for 15th august.

In the session of drama we knew about various type of drama. I knew that
how drama effects on our emotions. Many student performed drama on the
stage. We can convey any social message using drama. In this session I realize
that we should connect our expressions with words to become a good
dramatist.

In the session of Rangoli making. We knew about the various type of Rangolies.
Making a Rangoli is very creative thing. We should have a great creativity to
make a good rangoli. There are two types or Rangolies. First one is modern
rangoli and the second one is traditional rangoli.

c) Literary:
In the first session of literary we learn how to make a good debate. We also
form a small debate on education for money or not for money. I also taken a
part in the debate. It was a very good debate. There are many types of debates.
There are many ancient book also written on debate like vad-vivad. In this
session I realized that debates in the news are example of bad debate.

In the second session of literary we discussed about book reading. We


discussed about many books. There are mainly two types of book, first one is
fictional and the second one is non-fictional. I read only non-fictional books.
With the help of this session I realized that book reading is very good habit for
being successful. We also discussed about speed reading. We can read fast by
reducing sub-vocalization. We also discussed about many successful people
who reads book. In this session ma’am gave us an essay on one line of
Rabindranath Tagore.
In the third session of literary we discussed about success and how to achieve
it. In this session we realized that success needs constant efforts and it is the
step by step process.

In the fourth session of literary we wrote a small story based on the points
given by our mentor. I wrote a small story and named it everything for
everyone. Some of us voluntary narrated their stories. In this session I realized
that story writing very creative and difficult thing. It is a great fun to write a
story.

Proficiency Module:

It is very small phase. There were only two sessions in this phase. This phase is
about proficiency on English language.

In the first session we have played an ice-breaking game. In this game we have
to tell about ourselves but we have to tell two truth and one lie and other
person should recognise the lie then he will give his intro and the game will
continue. In this session we also have a one small examination on English
grammar. In this test I can score 34 marks out of 40.

In the second session we played many games based on English language. One
game that we played in this session was message passing game. In this game
there were 10 members in the group. One message was given to the leader of
the group and he have to memorise it and pass to the other group members.
Great thing about this game is that last person of the group receive the totally
different message. From this game we should learn that we don’t believe in
rumours. We also knew about the English language and its applications. English
is the official language of India. We can use it in many places.
