Lesson Topic: Foundation of Ballet

School: Olongapo City National High School

Grade: Grade 7 (Special Program in the Arts Dance Major)

Analyze Learners

General Characteristics: The students of Grade 7 Special Program in the Arts


Dance Major have background in dancing. The age of the students varies
from 12 to 14 years old wherein there are 17 females and 13 males. They
are all Filipinos, their height ranges from 4”9 ft. being the shortest and 5”4
ft. being the tallest.

Entry Competencies: They are all flexible which is needed when performing
a ballet step.

Learning Styles: The students of Grade 7 Special Program in the Arts dance
major work better when in group especially by live demonstration.

Objectives: The Grade 7 Special Program in the Arts dance major students
will be able to demonstrate the foundation of ballet by using chairs as an
alternative Barres in 15 minutes.

Select Methods, Media and Materials


Methods: The teacher will have a brief discussion regarding the foundation
of ballet, will present live demonstrations of the proper way of executing
ballet step afterwards the teacher will instruct the students to demonstrate
a specific ballet step.

Media: The teacher will use a Power Point presentation to catch the

attention of the students and to have an interesting discussion.

Materials: The teacher will provide handouts and traditional instructional

methods about the topic that will be discuss in the class.

Software/ Used Resources: The teacher will provide video tutorials of ballet
dancing.

Utilize Methods, Media and Materials

Preview the materials: The Power Point presentation is tested and reviewed
before the class started; the projector was also checked beforehand. The
visual aids that have been prepared by the teacher were also checked,
arranged accordingly and in good condition.

Prepare the materials: While the students are identifying their groups, the

teacher posted the visual aids on the board.

Prepare the environment: The classroom is neat and clean, the chairs
surrounded the whole classroom to leave a blank space in the middle for

the students to have their space for the activity prepared by the teacher.
Prepare the learners: Before having an actual presentation of ballet steps,
the teacher led a warm up exercise to condition the muscles of the

students.

Require Learner Participation

1. Video Presentation

The teacher will show a video presentation related to ballet so that


they will have basic knowledge on how ballet should perform.

2. Warm Up activity

The teacher will ask the students to identify their group and perform
a random dance routine for one and a half minute.

Evaluate and Revise

The students will be having an activity called “Move it, Guess it” wherein
there will be two groups. Each group must have two representatives to
perform the steps by randomly picking in the bowl and the remaining
group members must guess what the step is being performed in 2 minutes.
The group that able to collect more correct answers will be the winner.

Evaluation of Media and Methods

The power point presentation and live demonstrations are effective


because the students enable to distinguish and learn the ballet steps
clearly.
Evaluation of Overall Instruction

The flow of the class went well based on the lesson-plan prepared by the

teacher.
