Rinse Analysis: Teepol < By UV and Visible Absorption Spectrophotometry>

Blank : Purified water
Preparation of Standard solution : (Prepare in duplicate for similarity factor)
Weigh accurately about 100 mg of Teepol in a 100 ml of volumetric flask, dissolve and
dilute to volume with purified water and mix. Further dilute 10 ml of this solution to 100 ml
with purified water and mix. Further dilute 10 ml of this solution to 100 ml with purified
water and mix.
Preparation of Sample solution :
Use sample as such.
Procedure :
Measure the UV-absorbance of Standard solution and Sample solution at 223 nm using 4
cm cell and calculate traces of Teepol.
Calculations :
1) The Similarity factor for Teepol between Standard solution-A and Standard solution-B
(separately prepared) should be between 0.95 and 1.05. Calculate similarity factor by using
following formula,

Absorbance of Standard Solution-A Weight of Teepol in Standard Solution-B in mg

Similarity factor =---------------------------------------------- x ---------------------------------------------------
Absorbance of Standard Solution-B Weight of Teepol in Standard Solution-A in mg

Note: If the similarity factor does not fall within 0.95 to 1.05, prepare fresh standard
solution in duplicate, measure the absorbance and calculate similarity factor again as above.

Reporting :
1. If value of the traces is below detection limit then report as “Below LOD (actual LOD

2. Report as value in ‘ppm’.

Correction factor :
As recovery is less than 100% therefore apply Correction Factor of 1.0267 for calculating
residue on routine analysis.
