Topic/Title: Unit III: Indoor Recreational Activities

1.) SCRABBLE

Time Allotment: 60 minutes

Learning Competencies and Objectives:

At the end of the Session, Students should be able to:

1. Discuss the nature and background of the Game Scrabble;


2. Give health and fitness Benefits can be derived from playing Scrabble;
3. Apply knowledge of rules and regulations and strategies in playing scrabble,

ELICIT (5mins) MATERIALS

Title of the Game: Camera Action! -Folded paper

1. Identify Different Sports/Games/ Indoor Recreational Activities.


 The Students will act the Sports/games and the rest of the group will make a guess.
2. Answers the following:
 What are indoor recreational activities?
 Give the nature and background of the game scrabble.
 What basic skills and tactics do you need to develop or master to be successful in playing scrabble?

ENGAGE (5mins) ICT

Activity: Do You Still Remember Me?

Identify the common scrabble terms you have learned. Complete the corresponding scrabble letters placed on the
scrabble board. Use the following guide statements as your reference to complete the scrabble terms.

 Let the members of the Group present their output in front of the class.

ELABORATE (10 mins)

Scrabble- is a social game that can top the list of fun activities played in groups. It is a recreational activity that allows
players to enjoy and have fun.

Also provides opportunities to build language skills, improve mental capabilities and develop desirable attitudes. These
benefits will develop more if you directly engage in the game with your family and friends.

 Video presentation about ‘’ how to play scrabble’’.

EVALUATE (5 mins)

Activity#1. Agree or Disagree?

Put a positive sign (+) if you agree with the statement and a negative sign (-) if you disagree.

Activity#2. Want to Play!

This is your opportunity to Demonstrate the basic skills you have seen. LET’S PLAY!

1. Form a group of four. Assign an observer and a recorder. The rest of the group members will be players.
2. While playing, the observer and the recorder will write his/her observations on the skills and tactics applied by
the players.
3. The players, observer and recorder will share their experiences and observations in the game.
4. End the activity with a reflection on the importance of mastery of the basic skills in scrabble.
EXTEND (5 mins)

Activity: MMDA, MEET MY DEEP APPRECIATION

 On your scrapbook, paste photographs that you have taken while playing with your family and friends.
 Put a short description (i..e.. the dates and places you played the game) for each picture and write a short essay
on the benefits that you derived from playing the game.
