Course Title : Introduction to Organic Agriculture

Course Description : This course will introduce students to the principles and
processes of organic farming as an alternative system of farming. Students can gain
understanding on the cultural practices (crop rotations, cover crops, pest management,
etc.) and biological processes (composting, soil food web, plant and animal health, etc.)
that form the basis for organic production of plant and animal products (fruit, nuts,
vegetables, grain, forage, pasture, milk, meat, and eggs). Finally, this course allow them
to be acquainted with the standards being implemented in the production and
marketing of organically-grown farm products in the domestic and international markets.

Number of Units (Lec/Lab) : 2 Units Lecture (36 hours per semester/2 hours per week)
