َ ‫مر َحبا! إ ْسمي سو‬ ْ
.‫داخ َل فَ ِم جاد‬
ِ ‫ص ِدقائي‬ ْ ‫أعيش َم َع أ‬

“Marhaban! Ismee Sousa.
A’eesho ma’a asdekaa’ee daakhila fami
Jaad.”
Hello! My name is Sousa (dental cavity).
I live with my friends inside Jad’s mouth.
.‫ في ِسنِ ِه َه ِذه‬،‫ت م ْن ِزلي‬
ُ ‫ُهنا حفَ ْر‬
“Honaa hafarto manzilee, fee sinnihi haazih.”
Here I have dug my home, in this tooth of his.
 ِ ‫على ت َ ْن‬
‫ظيف‬ َ ‫ب‬ ِ ُ‫أل َ َّن جاد لَ ْم ي‬
ْ ‫واظ‬
.‫أ ْسنانِه‬
“Li-anna Jaad lam yowaazib ‘ala tanzeefi
asnaanih.”
Because Jad did not regularly brush his teeth.
 ِ ‫الكثير ِم َن ال َح ْل َويا‬
،‫ت‬ َ ‫وكان يأ ْ ُك ُل‬
َ
.‫ثير ِم َن العَاصائِر‬ َ ‫ب ال َك‬ ُ ‫وي ْش َر‬
“Wa kaana ya’kolo al-katheera mina al-
halwayaati, wa yashrabo al-katheer mina
al’asaa’ir.”
And he ate a lot of sweets and drank a lot of
juice.
 .‫اصدَ طبيبَةَ األ ْسنان‬
َ ‫ل ِكنَّهُ ق‬
“Laakinnaho qasada tabeebata a-lasnaan.”
But then he visited the dentist.
 ِ ‫طر ِدنا وت ْن‬
.‫ظيف أ ْسنانِه‬ ْ ‫فقا َم‬
ْ ‫ت ِب‬
“Faqaamat bitardinaa wa tanzeefi asnaanih.”
So she kicked us out and cleaned his teeth.
 ِ ‫ب على ت ْن‬
‫ظيف‬ ُ ‫واظ‬
ِ ُ‫صبَ َح جاد ي‬
ْ ‫وأ‬
.‫ صباحا ً ومسا َء‬،‫أ ْسنا ِنه‬
“Wa asbaha Jad yowaazibo ‘ala tanzeefi
asnaanihi, sabaahan wa masaa’an.”
And so, Jad started brushing his teeth
regularly, morning and night.
 ‫ع ْن‬ ُ ‫ْت في طريقي أ ْب َح‬
َ ‫ث‬ ُ ‫ضي‬
َ ‫وأنا م‬
ٍ ‫بَ ْي‬
.‫ في ٍفم آخَر‬،‫ت آخَر‬
“Wa ana madayto fee tareeqi abhatho ‘an
baytin aakhara, fee famin aakhar.”
And I went on to look for another house,
in another mouth.
 ‫ ا ْهتَموا ِبنظافَ ِة‬،‫صغاري األ َ ِعزا َء‬ ِ
َ ‫ ِلتَبْقى سو‬،‫أ َ ْسنانِ ُكم‬
!‫سة بَعيدًَ ً ع ْن ُكم‬
“Sighaaree al-a’izzaa’, ihtammoo
binazaafati asnaanikom, litabqa Sousa
ba’eeda ‘ankom.”
My dear little ones, take care of your
dental hygiene, so that Sousa (dental
cavities) stays away from you.
