REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Research and writings have addressed how classroom learning

environments influence student learning, but more recent attention has focused

on how classroom activities influence students’ views about the nature and

purpose of learning. According to Ames (1984) that described how learning

environments can be differentiated in terms of specific informational cues and

how they influence students’ processing of information and cognitions about their

performance. In that article, Ames examined how the structure of learning

environments can make different goals salient and consequently affect how

students think about themselves, their tasks, and others.

Considerable, on describing how different goals elicit qualitatively

different motivational patterns and how these goals are reflected in the boarder

context of classroom learning environments. Establishing linkages between the

environment, goals, and student motivational outcomes has been very important;

determining how to create these goals are reflected in the broader context of

classroom learning activities. Classroom activities defines integrated pattern of

attributions, and affect that produces the intentions of behavior (Weiner, 1986)

and is represented by different ways of approaching, and engaging in, and

responding to achievement-type activities (Dweck & Leggett, 1988).

According to Butler (1987), mastery goals increase the amount of

time children spending on learning tasks. Elliott (1988) believed that, their

persistence in the face of difficulty.

METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The researchers utilized the descriptive method using qualitative approach

in gathering information. The study involves the collection of data to answer

questions concerning the current status of the subjects in the study. It is

designed to gather information or conditions existing at a particular period of

time. The focus of the whole implored phenomenology research design showed

that was the impacts of sport activities to the academic performance of Senior

High School students in North Valley College Foundation, Inc.

Research Locale

The study was conducted at North Valley College Foundation Inc. located

at Brgy. Lanao, Kidapawan City, specifically at the Senior High School

Department (Grade 11 STEM)

Research Respondents

The principal respondents of the study were the 15 students of Grade 11

Senior High School Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM),

students of North Valley College Foundation Incorporated of the School Year

2018-2019.

Sampling Procedure

The research had used Sampling Procedure in which 15 random Science,

Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students was chosen to

answer the questions.

Data Gathering Procedure

In conduct of the study, the researchers asked permission from the office

of the Senior High School Principal and Faculty to allow the researchers to use

more or less 20 minutes of the teacher’s subject period for the respondents to

answer the questions. The researchers had personally interviewed the

respondents accordingly, to the questionnaire considered. The survey test was

recorded by the researchers and the data was tallied, analyzed and explained

according to the explicit problem set ahead.

Research Instrument

The instrument used is a questionnaire where it needs to be answered

privately and what the respondent’s opinions, their views and perspective on the

study.

Data Analysis Procedure

The researchers had used Recursive Abstraction in which all of the data

will be summarized and analyzed.
