imprisonment later half deals with materialistic world and truth of life. The protagonist initially
was a lawyer who accepted 15 year of solitary confinement in lure of 2 million bucks and a

the prisoner suffered severely from loneliness and depression. His initial years
were painful and stressed but he changed the way he was leading his life. He involved himself
in light reading such as novel with love plot, sensational and fictions and short stories. In second

in the jail. Then he preferred the history and philosophy and by reading such an enriched
material he gained immense knowledge about world.

can be inferred that, being in the company of studies of insightful literature and sciences may
change the way a person thinks. The text ends with positive note that imprisonment did not end
the potential of learning in someone`s life in this world. The person got the most fruitful
knowledge during his solitary confinement. He found the true meaning of life in prison itself.
He found that death is permanent and all other things including life are temporary in nature.
The person who even cried due to pain of loneliness in his initial jail days transformed himself
into a person who had achieved what other had not even though of just by utilising his time in
a productive and creative manner. He transformed himself from a man who accepted the one
of the most painful punishment just to earn money into a man who even not believe in the
materialistic world. This change is due to the knowledge he gained by reading books. He can
be insane, depressed person who hates everyone but he chooses to become a person who had

It depends on the individual what is the destiny of his life. The real world
witnessed many great works of literature and history written by people
when they suffered the pain of jail. The jail had produced most crude and
cruel criminals and the same jail also produced most talented and
sophisticated humans. The hardships of a jail can`t be denied but the
opportunities of learning and understanding also can`t be denied. The first
prime minister of India wrote the discovery of India in Naini Jail, Nelson
Mandela wrote his autobiography in jail. Hence jail is a place which offers
opportunities along with struggle it is on the person to choose which one
he likes.
