Manager, and also confirm and manage print jobs stored in the print server.
• Users can set up a printer driver easily by copying it from the print server instead of
5 installing it individually, and print from any of devices connected to the server.
• The user tool enables users to manage print jobs stored in the server on the display
6 panel of a device or via the web browser.
• With the optional RICOH Streamline NX Client Tool, the functions of Client Secure Print,
7
Dynamic Delegation Print, Client Accounting and Rule Based Print can work with the

5. Limitations
Limitations
1
• The SPM Server should be installed by a person who has the administrative
authorization for the computer on which the SPM Server will be installed.
2 • The name of computer with the SPM Server installed should consist of alphanumeric
characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and hyphens (-) only.
3 • You cannot install the SPM Server from a network drive. Install from a DVD-ROM drive
on the computer on which the SPM Server will be installed.
4 • When you copy the installation software into a hard drive, installation may fail if the
installation path is too long.
• You cannot install Microsoft SQL Server on a compressed drive or on a compressed
5 folder.
• When communicating with SSL between the client computers and the SPM Server,
6 install IIS (Internet Information Services) on the SPM Server by using a certificate issued
by a trusted certificate authority.
7 • If you have restarted the Windows Print Spooler, be sure to also restart the Streamline
NX Secure Print Manager in Services screen.
• If you have specified the date and time on devices, be sure to restart the Windows Print
8 Spooler.
• Restart the computer with the SPM Server installed if the IP address is changed.
9 • Up to 4 SPM Servers can be connected to a database for the Multi Server Print function.
• When the authentication setting is specified in the printer driver other than PCL printer
10 driver, such as PostScript driver, a user may be recognized as another user. Depending
on the device, print job attributes may not be obtained and the print jobs may not be
printed as specified in the printer driver.
11 • If printing a print job without collating copies in a PCL driver;
- Check print function (one copy print for confirming the print settings) is not available.
12 - The number of copies cannot be changed to 1 (the number of copies of the original
setting will be printed without being sorted).
- If changing the number of copies to more than two, the print job is printed by being sorted.
13 • You cannot use 2 byte characters in a user name for a PS printer driver. If user name
includes 2 byte characters, use PCL or RPCS printer driver.
14 • If you send PDF data to the SPM Server in B&W PS driver, and print on a color printer,
it can be output in color.
• Depending on the device, print jobs may not be printed as specified in the printer driver.
15 • Be sure to install a printer driver that supports your device. Otherwise, print jobs may not
be output as specified in the printer driver.
24
• If a global catalog server is used in AAM Server, set a user name used for the
authentication in a printer driver in the UPN format. Printer drivers which do not support
the user name setting for authentication cannot be used (Ex: PostScript drivers).
• The shared printer driver cannot be copied using the drag and drop operation from the
1
SPM Server of which operation system is 64-bit version to the client computer of which
operation system is 32-bit version. 2
• Depending on print settings or the print job data, or on the optional functions equipped
with a device, print jobs may not be printed in the settings specified in a printer driver. In
this case, the settings specified in a printer driver are displayed in a print job list or a
3
deletion log file instead of the actual print result (Ex: if sending a print job of a document
in black and white with the color print setting, or if sending a print job with the duplex 4
setting to the device which is not equipped with a duplex print unit).
5
• Deletion logs are generated in the following case:
- A print job has been deleted using the display panel of a device or the SPM user tool.
- A specified print job storage period has elapsed.
• Deletion logs may take up to about 60 seconds to be generated. 6
• A job name report is created when a printing has finished in the following case:
- When printing by selecting print jobs on the display panel of a device. 7
- When printing using the SNX SPM Direct Port.
• A job name report may take up to about 60 seconds to be generated.
8
• In a print using the SNX SPM Direct Port, a job name log increases when a print job has
been sent.
• If setting a print job name, user name, display name, or color tab name in Japanese,
9
Chinese, or Latin-1 characters of other than ASCII code, configure the locale setting for
the corresponding characters in the SPM Server, SPM Embedded, client computer, and 10
web client (Ex: if the locale for a device is set to Chinese and the locale for a server is
set to English, a print job name in Chinese cannot be obtained correctly when the print
job is sent to a device. The print job name is garbled in a print job list). 11
• Print jobs are displayed in a list for each user name without case sensitivity.
• Depending on the type of an application and print settings, the job information displayed 12
in the print job list on the display panel of a device may differ from the print settings
specified in a printer driver.
• Even if the specified job storage period has been elapsed, the print job data are retained
13
in the server, displayed in the print job list and can be printed out until the auto deletion
is executed. 14
• The following functions are not supported for the print job data saved in the SPM version
2.0.1 or older.
- The Multi Server Print function
15
25
5. Limitations
• If color data is sent to a black and white printer in the SNX SPM Direct Port, a usage log
for a color print is sent to the AAM Server.
1 • When the SNX SPM Direct Port is used, usage logs are not sent to the AAM Server in
the following conditions:
- If the AAM Server settings are not specified correctly in the SPM Server.
2 - If the SNMP settings in the SNX SPM Direct Port is not specified correctly.
- If a user has never logged in to a device on the operation panel or using the SPM user
8
of the SPM Server.
Security Vulnerability Response
• To prevent spoofing, SPM (Embedded) encrypts communication information required for
9 obtaining print data or print job lists, then sends it to the SPM Server. The SPM Server
obtains print data and job list by decrypting the encrypted information.
10 • Each version of SPM (Embedded), SPM Server and RICOH Streamline NX Client Tool
(Optional) should be V2.6 or later to use this security function correctly.
11
• To run this security function correctly, enable the security setting in all applications of
SPM (Embedded), SPM Server and RICOH Streamline NX Client Tool (Optional).
12
• For details on the security function in the SPM (Embedded), refer to RICOH
Streamline NX Administrator’s Guide
13 • For details on the security function in the SPM Server, refer to Secure Print
Manager (Server) Administrator’s Guide.
14
• For details on the security function in RICOH Streamline NX Client Tool (Optional),
refer to RICOH Streamline NX Client Tool Installation Guide.
• When this function is enabled, the [Data Compression] function that can be specified in
15 the [Parameter Settings] screen is disabled regardless of the setting.
• Kerberos authentication is not available when this function is enabled.
26
Network
• The server with multiple NICs (Network Interface Cards) is not supported.
