1. INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, diferent commercial fertilizers are being made and sold by people around

the world but some fertilizers cause a lot of side effects to the plant wherein it is being

applied and costs a lot of money to buy. This study aims to produce an organic fertilizer

which will be cheaper and harmless.

As people observed, commercial fertilizers may contain ingredients that may be toxic to

the skin or respiratory system that would make it harmful to humans and animals. For

some commercial fertilizers you need to mix and measure it accurately because if you

use too much, you can kill your plants. It is also a lot more expensive than organic

fertilizers.

I picked mango peels as my organic fertilizer because there aren’t that many mango

organic fertilzer references in the internet. Mangoes are acidic thats why i think that it

would make a good fertilizer especially in tomatoes which is the plant i used to test my

fertilizer. Mango peels also have NPK which are necessary nutrients plants need to live

and grow.
2. Methods

Materials:

Mango

Bottled Water

Water

Tomato Seeds

Pot

Spray Bottle

I gathered all the materials as what was stated above. First, I peeled the mangoes so

that i can use its peels to make my organic fertilizer. After peeling I put the mango peels

in the water bottle containing 500ml of water. After 15 days I put it in a spray bottle. I put

tomato seeds in a pot and let it grow for a month. After a month I sprayed the plants

once a day and observed it for only a week.

3. RESULTS

Figure 1

Fig. 1 shows the tomato plant with no fertilizer sprayed on it

Figure 2

Fig. 2 shows the tomato plant with the mango peel organic fertilizer applied on it

Figure 3

Fig 3 shows both plants compared to each other

4. DISCUSSION

In all figure it shows the tomato plants progress with or without fertilizer. Both tomato

plants were planted on the same day. As I observe, there’s a slight improvement when

using the organic mango fertilizer. It is also environmental friendly and it is cheaper than

buying any commercial fertilizer.

5. CONCLUSION

I conclude that my investigatory project which is "Mango peels as an organic fertilizer" is

advisable. It might not be as effective as the commercial insecticide it would still

improve the growth of your plants. If you have any mango peels lying around it would be

best to not throw them away instead use it as a fertilizer for your plants.
