METHODOLOGY AREA WISE:

1.1 PODIUM AREA
Surface Preparation:

Careful surface preparation is essential for optimum finish and durability. The
surface needs to be made clean,
dry and sound, free of any contamination by wire brushing, which may harmfully
affect the adhesion of the
membrane. Maximum moisture content should not exceed 5%. Substrate compressive
strength should be at
least 25 Mpa, cohesive bond strength at least 1.5 MPa.

New concrete structures need to dry for at least 28 days. Old, loose coatings,
dirt, fats, oils, organic
substances and dust need to be removed by a grinding machine. Possible surface
irregularities need to be
smoothened. Any loose surface pieces and grinding dust need to be thoroughly
removed.

Clean the wall and floor junctions with compressed air and make angle fillet /
watta with cement : sand mortar
admixed with SBR latex (5% by weight of cement) at the junction of wall and floor.

Repair of cracks & joints:

The careful sealing of existing cracks and joints before the application is
extremely important for long lasting
waterproofing results. Clean concrete cracks and hairline cracks, of dust, residue
or other contamination.
Prime locally with the SBR Latex and allow 2-3 hours to dry. Fill all prepared
cracks with polymer modified
cement sand mortar admixed with SBR Latex .

Clean concrete joints and control joints of dust, residue or other contamination.
Widen and deepen joints (cut
open) if necessary. The prepared movement joint should have a depth of 10-15 mm.
The width: depth ratio of
the movement joint should be at a rate of approx. 2:1. Treat the joints with
polymer modified mortar cement :
sand admixed with SBR Latex (5% by weight of cement). Drill holes at 45 deg angle
and insert PVC nozzles
and needs to be injected by cement slurry admixed with expansive admixture
Pidicrete AM (225gms / bag of
cement).

Application of waterproofing cum Root resistant membrane:

Prime absorbent surfaces like concrete, cement screed with moisture insensitive
Pidipoxy MIEP primer. Allow
the primer to cure for 6 8 Hrs to tacky condition.

Stir Dr. Fixit Flexi PU 270 well before using. Pour Flexi PU 270 onto the primed
surface and lay the first coat
over the RCC slab by roller or brush, until all surface is covered. You can use
airless spray allowing a
considerable saving of manpower. After 12-18 hours (not later than 48 hours) apply
another layer of the Flexi
PU 270. The coverage shall be maintained at 1.5 Kg/sqm to achieve Dry Film
Thickness of 1.2mm.
The membrane (both the coats) shall be applied over the angle fillet and shall be
extended over the vertical
wall upto height such that it is terminated at 300mm above Finish Floor Level or
Soil Filling Level.

Allow the membrane to air cure for minimum 3 4 days before any activity over it.

Protection & Slope over the waterproof membrane (Horizontal Areas):

Lay 200 GSM geotextile membrane over the waterproofing membrane to create a
separation layer as well a
protection layer from screeding. The geotextile layer shall have 100 mm overlap and
spot bonded and shall be
extended at the wall upto 100mm above the slab floor.

Lay Concrete screed of M20 grade concrete (RMC) over the geotextile membrane
admixed with 12mm dia.
poly-propylene fibers at 0.9Kg/cum to avoid shrinkage cracks so to receive pavers
or Landscaping systems
and to provide slope of 1 : 100. The slope shall be provided in such a way that
there is 40mm minimum
thickness at the point of drain outlet. The screed shall be finished rough with
broom and in shape of watta /
rounding at the wall and floor junctions. The screed shall be cured with water for
minimum 14 days.

After the screed is cured remove all the water, cut joints in screed with grinder
of 10mm wide and 30mm deep
to form panels of 4M X 4M. Clean the joints with compressed air to make it dust
free and leave it for 1 or 2
days to remove the moisture from the joints.

Pack in backer rod of round cross-section inside the joint upto 6mm depth left at
top.

This joint shall be applied with PU primer. Allow to dry for minimum 2 3 Hrs to
tacky condition.

Then fill the joints with PU sealant. Allow the sealant to air cure for 2 3 days
before covering or laying of
further landscape / hardscape layers / parking layers.

Protection over the waterproof membrane (Vertical Areas):

Over the waterproofing membrane apply 2 coats of Epoxy bonding Agent conforming to
Shear Bond strength
as per ASTM C 881. Sprinkle sand over the primed surface at 2 3Kg/sqm when the
bonding agent is wet.
Allow it to dry to form firm key for the plaster.

Lay 20mm thick plaster in two coats over the prepared surface of cement sand mortar
admixed with integral
waterproof compound conforming to IS 2645-2003, Pidiproof LW+

For Landscaped portions (Grass & Trees upto 2MTR Height):

architect / engineer shall be
laid over the protection screed before soil filling.

For Planter Boxes: Separate Anti-Root Treatment above the screed (Trees above 2MTR
height):
