A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in English for Grade 8

(LISTENING)

I – Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. list down the possible effect by completing the sentences that shows result;
b. show cooperation and teamwork through participating in group activities; and
c. predict a possible cause and effect of the situation given to them.
II – Subject Matter:
Topic: Cause and Effect Relationship
Reference: Working with English Workbook for Grade 8, Unit 4 Lesson 8.
Materials: Visual aids, laptop, speaker.

III – Procedure:
A1. Greetings
A2. Arranging of chairs
A3. Checking of attendance
A4. Review of the past lesson
(The teacher will ask/call a student to recall the past lesson.)

B. Motivation:
Observe the following pictures.

1. What is the effect of illegal logging?

2. What causes landslide?


C. Presentation/ Discussion
(The teacher will discuss the Cause and Effect Relationship and give examples.

D. Activity
(The students will be grouped into four, each group will be given (4) four sentences and
they will list down the possible effect of by completing the sentences that shows result.)
1. Dr. Tan had served the people because of _____________________________
2. Due to the scarcity of the water supply ________________________________
3. Many Filipinos wanted to work abroad because of _______________________
4. Kryzell is always absent due to ______________________________________

E. Analysis
(The teacher will present examples of and will answer the given question.)

(The teacher will ask/call a student to give the summary of the discussion)

G. Application
Individually, the students will listen to an audio recording about “Climate change” and
they will write the cause and effect from the audio they have listened to.

IV – Evaluation
Direction: Using the given information, make sentences using now that to express
cause and effect.
1. Khey has job, she can support her family.
2. My brother has computer, he can submit his report on time.
3. Farmers can plat crops anytime, the irrigation system in the barangay has
started.
4. She can communicate to her mother abroad, she has cellphones.
5. The family would like to have a reunion of close friends and relatives. His brother
is living for abroad.

V – Assignment
In a ½ crosswise. Write at least five sentences that expresses cause and effect.
