A French-inspired fashion design B.A.
course in Berlin
Atelier Chardon Savard, one of France‘s top fashion schools, offers a
French-inspired fashion design course with a state-approved bachelor‘s
degree in cooperation with the renowned hKDM, University of Arts and
Applied Sciences.

The degree program is accredited by the agency ZEvA. Lessons take

place in beautiful studios in the buzzing Kreuzberg district of Berlin.
The next 7-semester course starts in winter semester 2018 and is offered
in German or English language. With experienced lecturers from the
fashion world, and with real world relevance as well as individual
support for the duration of the course, we prepare you to realize your
dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

If you have patience, persistence and fantasy and want to enter the
crazy world of fashion in the hip city of Berlin, we are looking for
people just like you. Your personality, your talent and your sense of
fashion and design are our focus.
 FASHION DESIGN B.A.
UNIVERSITY COURSE
A course offered by Atelier Chardon Savard with an
accredited Bachelor degree from hKDM, University
of Arts and Applied Sciences.

The course is divided into three

categories: Replicé, Experimen-
tation and Conceptuel, which
form the focus of each academic
year.
First year: “Replicé“
This year will give you an introduction to the diffe-
rent areas of professional fashion design and give
you a first taste of the basics. For example, it is
about Tactile Shape Design, Drawing and Basic
Fashion Designs, Fashion Trends, as well as Colour
Theory, Textile Technology and Digital and Analogue
Tailoring.

Second year: “Experimentation“

You are expected to start developing your cre-
ative potential and begin experimenting to trans-
form yourself into an independent designer.
Courses on offer include Textile Design, Fashion
Design II, Tailoring II, Processing Techniques,
Collection Development, Methodology, and more.
Your know-how will be deepened and your port-
folio will be promoted.

Third year: “Conceptuel“

As well as expanding your existing knowledge
in courses such as Fashion Design IV, Fashion
Illustration III and Creative Tailoring II, the per-
spective will change towards viewing fashion
design as a whole in a broader conceptual per-
spective. There is a focus on general fashion and
art as well as fashion marketing and, of course,
your bachelor thesis. Your internship will also take
place within the „Conceptuel“ year.

 A recognized 7-semester course including 1 internship
semester
The study period entails 6 regular semesters and a separate internship semester. After a
total of 7 semesters, you complete your studies with 210 ECTS (European Credit Transfer
System) and the accredited Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design.

If proof of relevant practical experience is provided, it is possible to shorten the study

Practical skills and professional network
Practical projects form the foundation of this course. From the first year
of your studies, you will be able to consolidate your knowledge of the
industry and perfect your technical and creative competencies. This is
how you get to know the professional side of the world of fashion and
create valuable contacts.

The practical projects become longer and more demanding during the
course of your studies. They become the determining element towards
the end of your studies to enable a smooth transition into the professio-
nal world. The Atelier Chardon Savard is at your side during both your
studies and your internship.
It arranges internship placements, accompanies you on your interviews,
prepares the required internship contract and advises on employment
contracts.

The fashion design course from hKDM, University of Arts and Applied

not funded by the German state. Therefore a study fee of € 3,900
will be charged per semester.

Admission
This is what we need from you
You need a certified secondary education certificate (e.g. High School
Diploma, GCSE, O-level) and a recognized certificate of English
proficiency (TOEFL with at least 71 out of 120 points or IELTS, at least 5
out of 9). We offer an admission check of foreign secondary education
certificates free of cost. For the approval process we also need a
portfolio from you.

After assessing your application, you will be invited to an online

assessment and an online admission interview. The assessment consists
of 3 artistic tasks.

If you already have professional experience in the fashion industry, this

can be included in your study time under certain conditions.
