DAILY LESSON PLAN in Earth and Life Science
1. Describe how the layer of rocks are formed
2. Describe the structure of sedimentary rock
The learners demonstrate an understanding of how the planet Earth evolved
in last 4.6 billion years including age of the Earth, major geologic time
subdivisions, and marker fossils.
Describe how layers of rocks ( stratified rocks )are formed
Describe the different methods (relative and absolute dating) to determine
the stratified rocks.

Describe the composition of the seafloor.
Students are expected to answer rock as component of the seafloor they
will be describing the structure / forms of rocks that are seen under the
seafloor.
Show the Picture of the layers of rocks showing the stratified rocks
Present the subtopics:
 Formation of layers of rocks
 Structure of stratified rock
 Formation of stratified rocks
 Correlation of rock layers
Discuss how the stratification of rocks occur as sediments are added. Use
video presentation to how layers of rocks ( stratification) of rock is formed
on earth surface.
From the concepts of formation of layers of rocks relate how it can be use as
the basis in the history of the earth.
Ask the students to relate the formation of layers of rock according to
present minerals on earth at earlier time to the recent.
Use of the formation of the layers of rocks it stratified form be use in tracing
the history of the earth.
Layers of rocks are form as sediments are added / as rocks formed and
deposited on the earths inner layer going up depending on the time of its
formation will be its position on the earth’s surface.
Stratified rocks has been formed by compaction or crystallization of
successive beds of deposited materials.
Answer the following questions :
 1. What is the significance of the formation of layer of rock to the
history of earth?
2. Is it possible to use the stratified rocks component to identify
weather/ climate of earth in the past? Explain.
