• Candidates placed in compartment are not eligible for admission to any program of study in the
University
• One applicant can fill one application form for either of the admission pathway. Applicant can change the
pathway only up to the last date to apply for B. Tech. Exam pathway i.e. 08th May 2019.
• Applicant can “EDIT” the application form at their student portal through their user id & password at
UPES website till the last date of filling of application form for the respective pathway.
• For Non-Exam – Applicant will submit their 12th Board Marks and JEE Main score to participate in their
selection process. Link for submission required details will be available at UPES website by June 2019 –
Second week.
• The admission will be finalized only when the student has met the norms of eligibility criteria. The onus
of meeting the criteria is the sole responsibility of the student. The admission of a student will stand
cancelled at any point of time during the time of registration with the University, if the student is found
not meeting the admission criteria and where the student has not submitted the relevant documents.

Non-Examination Pathway
MBA Admissions through National Level Tests**
For MBA Oil & Gas / Power Management / Energy Trading / Logistics & Supply Chain Management
Students having minimum MAT /CMAT 2019 score of 80 Percentile will be exempted from UPES Management
Entrance Test and will only be called for Group Discussion & Interview if qualified. Valid 75 percentile & above
score of CAT 2018/ XAT 2018 A score of min 550 or above for GMAT, a score of 140 and above in NMAT
2018 / 19 scores will also be accepted.
For MBA Aviation Management / International Business/ Business Analytics/ MBA with Specialization
in HR / Operations / Mkt / Finance)
Students having minimum MAT / CMAT score of 75 Percentile will be exempted from UPES Management
Entrance Test and will only be called for Group Discussion & Interview if qualified. Valid 70 percentile & above
score of CAT 2018/ XAT 2018 A score of min 550 or above for GMAT, a score of 140 and above in NMAT
2018 / 19 scores will also be accepted.
**Upto 30% seats shall be filled through National Level Tests category (CAT/MAT/XAT/NMAT). Incase candidates for such
seats are not available, UPES has the right to fill these seats through MBA (UPESMET).

1. GATE SCHOLARSHIP: *
Scholarship @ Rs. 12,400/- per month for Students having 70 percentile and above in GATE.
2. RESEARCH GRANT: **
All Students will also be eligible to avail a grant up to a sum of Rs. 50,000/- towards outcome-based
research as per rules & regulations framed for the purpose by the University.

Students admitted to M. Tech program in the academic session 2019-20 with valid GATE score 70 percentile and
above will be considered for scholarship @ Rs. 12,400/- per month during their period of registration with the
University.
To become eligible for the continuance scholarship in subsequent semesters, the students are required to have
a) earned minimum SGPA / CGPA of 8.0 in each semester
b) passed every semester examination in the first attempt besides maintaining regular attendance, discipline,
exemplary behavior and compliance with all other norms as prescribed by the University from time to time

To become eligible for the continuance of the fellowship in subsequent semesters, the students are required
1. To have earned Minimum SGPA / CGPA 8.0 in 1st Semester and subsequent semesters/ Year.
2. To have passed every semester examination at the first attempt besides regular attendance, disciplined and
exemplary behaviour and compliance with all other norms, as prescribed by the University from time to time.
Continuance of the financial assistance from semester to semester shall subject to the discipline, punctuality and
good academic performance as laid down in the rules besides the availability of fund with the University. Such
students must not be getting any kind of financial assistance/support e.g. fellowship/scholarship/fee waiver etc.
from any other source.

Training & Certification Fee: To give real life exposure to students & to make them industry ready professionals, short
duration industrial tours/training and/or online trainings shall be organized for all students of full time programs, except for
Engineering & Law PG students.
The trainings may lead to certification in all programs except for BA-Public Policy, B.Com, B.Sc & BBA where it will be a
credited course. A charge of Rs. 22,500/- (one time) is to be paid in 5thsemester in case of UG Programs & 2nd semester in
case of PG student. In case travel of industrial tour by air is necessitated, additional charges, if any, would be intimated to the
students concerned for payment prior to commencement of the tour. For BBA Students they have to pay this amount along
with 3rd Semester fee.
Personality Development Program (PDP) Fee: To improve communication & soft skills and placement selection chances, it
is mandatory for all the students (Except B.Com & B.Sc) to attend the Personality Development Program organized by UPES.
PDP fee of Rs.7500 /- payable along with 2nd Semester Fee in case of PG students. PDP fee for UG programs is Rs.20,000/-
, out of which half is payable at the time of admission and balance half in penultimate (second last) semester. However, in case
of LLM student PDP fee is payable at the time of registration.
Refundable Security: Refundable (interest free) security amount of Rs.20,000/- is also payable at the time of registration.
Levies &Taxes: In case any taxes/ levies on fee are charged by the Central/State/Local Authorities/Overseas Authorities from
time to time, the same shall also be borne by the students.
Convocation Fee: Student will be charged Rs.1,500 as Convocation fee to be paid in penultimate (2nd Last) semester. Since
LLM is one-year duration course, this fee is payable at the time of registration.

Academic Computing Fee: Rs.,3200/- will be charged in the per semester of the program. It is mandatory for all students to
bring their Laptop as per the configuration mentioned in the admission offer letter or on the UPES website.
Medical Insurance Fee: To cover medical expenses students are covered through annual Group Medical Health Insurance
Policy. An amount of Rs.500/- shall be charged from student at the time of registration. For subsequent years the amount shall
be communicated to students alone with semester fees.
Students of BBA Aviation Operations will additionally have to pay one-time applicable IATA course fee (approx. Rs. 40,000/-)
in addition to the semester fee during October 2019.

Mandatory Requirements
It is mandatory for all students seeking admission to provide below documents.
Fee Concession
25% concession on tuition fee shall be provided only to Uttarakhand bonafide resident students on merit cum
means basis to be decided by the University subject to fulfilling the following conditions:
- Students whose gross annual family income is not more than Rs.5 Lakhs,
- Students who possess valid “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” from Uttarakhand state
- Should have passed class X and XII level schooling from Uttarakhand. However, this condition may be relaxed for
wards of defense personnel subject to producing of posting certificate outside the state issued by competent
authority.
Hostel Facility
Residential blocks have been earmarked for limited on – campus accommodation (on first come first serve
basis) separately for boys and girls on triple sharing basis.

Note: - Students desirous of availing the campus hostel facility should submit the following documents along with the requisite
hostel fee without fail.

Reservation of Seats
For Uttarakhand bona fide resident candidates: 15% of the seats in all programs will be reserved for residents
of Uttarakhand subject to production of “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” (Permanent Residence Certificate) issued by
the competent authority of Uttarakhand State. These seats will get allotted based on the merit order in this
category, provided the candidate has declared his intent to opt under this category at the time of applying for
admission.
Note: Candidates applying under this category would be required to produce the original “Sthai Niwas
Praman Patra” during the day of admission failing which their candidature shall stand cancelled.
Seats remaining unfilled by the stipulated date in this category may be treated as unreserved.
Withdrawal of Seats
UPES follow’s UGC guidelines regarding refund of fees on withdrawal. The refund will be processed online. For

Transportation
Students residing at Dehradun city and wishing to avail transportation facility to the UPES campus can avail the
same by paying a fee of Rs. 20,000 for academic year 2019-20.
Medical Facilities
University provides basic healthcare facilities. Doctors on roll provide basic first aid in case of medical
emergencies and subsequently student is assisted in evacuating him/her to nearest hospital.
The medical treatment cost is to be borne by student or his/her parent. The onus of insuring the student
under medical insurance is on the student and he/she is expected to keep insurance card handy.

UPES shall provide placement assistance to all enrolled students subject to their fulfilling eligibility
conditions as prescribed in UPES Placement Regulations. However, the obligation of the University will be only to
provide Placement assistance and not Placement guarantee.
Ragging
The University has zero tolerance policy on ragging and will strictly enforce it. Ragging in any form inside
or outside the campus and hostel premises is strictly prohibited under UGC Regulations on ragging, Ragging being
a cognizable offence; the punishment for ragging will be summary expulsion from the University.
Ragging as defined by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India: “Any disorderly conduct whether by words
spoken or written, or by an act with the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student;
indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or
psychological or to raise fear or apprehension thereof, in a fresher or a junior student, or asking the students to
do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of
causing or generating sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a
fresher or a junior student.”

Commencement of Program
Commencement of actual classes begins from the date of commencement of PEP (Personality
Enhancement Program) held immediately after registration.
• Students from non -English speaking countries should satisfy UPES that they have adequate proficiency
in English to be able to undertake the program of their choice. If required, an undertaking from such

proficiency to be assessed by UPES on arrival) before starting the actual program of admission. Qualifying
TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent may not be mandatory but strongly advised.

An application fee of USD75 is payable applicable for international students. This can be paid online or by credit

UPES will review the student’s application and required supporting documents. If found eligible, UPES will issue
a Provisional Offer of Admission Letter.

Computing Device
• It is mandatory for each incoming student to be equipped with a laptop conforming to the minimum
specifications of UPES details available on the UPES website www.upes.ac.in
Visas
• International students who wish to study in India must obtain a Student Visa before travelling to India.
• Please make enquiries at the Indian Consulate/Embassy /High Commission in your country /country of
application to ascertain the correct procedure and time necessary to obtain a visa valid for the term of
study of your program at UPES.
Registration
All international students are required by law to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO)
/ local police authorities as per regulation of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. At present, this
must be within 14 days of arrival in India but please check this information with the Consulate/Embassy/High
Commission in your company before departure as these rules are subject to change.
Students must comply with visa rules and registration requirements and keep abreast of any changes.
Accordingly, students are responsible for ensuring that their visas are valid throughout the period of study at UPES
and for maintaining their registration with the FRRO/local police.
Students can request assistance from UPES for preliminary registration formalities in Dehradun.
