The first impression of this restaurant is of the gorgeous hanging ivy which falls down the side of
the building. The restaurant is in the cool neighborhood of Monti and is popular with locals and
tourists. The food is amazing with many classic Italian dishes. Spoil yourself with a chocolate and
ricotta pie covered in chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Al Forno della Soffitta Local $$


This is where the locals eat pizza. Scrumptious authentic Neapolitan food. The pizza oven is the
first thing you see but they serve up a lot more than pizza. There is delicious seafood, pasta and
meat dishes. The service is friendly and the food really good like the stuffed zucchini flowers and
the complementary herb bread.

Angrypig Birretta e Porchetta Sandwiches $$


Try the special porchetta sandwich on black bread - wow really delicious. If you're sick of pizza and
pasta then this place will be like a breath of fresh air. The service is welcoming and the restaurant
is rather small. Prices are reasonable with a filling sandwich costing about €7.

On a quiet street off Piazza del Popolo is this hidden gem. If you want to try real Roman cooking
like gnocchi fatti. Many of the raw ingredients are grown on the restaurant owner's farm and he is
very passionate about the food. The owner often comes out front and chats with diners.
Considering the quality of the food prices are fitting.

The father and son team which runs this place are very friendly and there aren't too many tourists
here. The prices are fair and there are English menus. Try the craft beers on offer and the
delicious sandwiches in this cute and quirky restaurant.

You'll be blown away by the service and the food. The impressive dishes include classic Italian

getting a more expensive bottle. They also do take-away.

This place is far enough away from the tourist crowds to be authentic. It is a small establishment

Here you can get the true Roman fast-food experience with a real classic Italian fast-food - fried
cod. People line up for this treat and it can be easily taken away and eaten as you walk around.
There are other things on the menu if you are planning to sit down but otherwise it is a
meal-on-the-go, hot, delicious fried fish-the Italian version of British fish and chips! The local eatery
shot to fame when it was recommended by Anthony Bourdain.

This incredible little bakery is in Campo de'Fiori and they are best known for there pizza blanca.
The pizzas are served straight from the oven and sold by weight. The key word with this place is
fresh. They wrap the pizza up (folded in half)in paper and off you go. Great service but it is
take-away only. they also sell other baked goods and cakes. The prices are rock bottom and the
taste perfect.

The pizza sold here has a thick crust and is sold by weight. It is a small place but there are a few
seats if you want to sit. It is a bit pricey for pizza but there are some great flavors like the pesto,
pine nut and prosciutto pizza. They also serve desserts and ice-cream.

Great to find down-to-earth Roman food within the tourists' reach but still frequented by locals. The
food is standard Italian with an emphasis on seafood and there are vegan options. The star of this
restaurant is the friendly service and the ideal location next to the Trevi Fountain. Not only that but
there are English menus and free WiFi (which you must sign-in for).

Wow, this place is worth splurging - fine dining at its best! You have to book ahead to get into this
3 star Michelin restaurant which is located on the top floor of the Waldorf Astoria. What views! It s
a formal setting (men must wear jackets). The menu is extensive with cuisine from around the
world. Delicious, top quality in every way but be warned it is not cheap. The pre-set Chef's Menu
has 10 courses for €230.

It is worth waiting in line at this place! It will be the best prosciutto you've ever had. They sell
sandwiches but the stars of this place are the platters. You order a platter according to your
preference - meat, vegetable cheese or a mix and get presented with the most scrumptious
looking (and tasting) wooden board covered with mouthwatering delights. Gorgonzola truffle
spread, charcuterie, smoked ham, salami, sundried tomatoes blue cheese, grilled vegetables and
real balsamic - outstanding!

This restaurant is amazing - amazing service, food and atmosphere. Delicious, sophisticated
dishes served with much thought. Try the zucchini cake with alfredo or the cacio y pepe with black
truffle or swordfish. The classic dishes are given modern twists and there is a great wine selection.
You can watch the kitchen through a glass panel in the main dining room and there is also outdoor
seating. Bellisimo!

comes out the kitchen and chats with each table. The dishes are authentic and created with

experience and not expensive for what you get.

Affordable, delicious sandwiches close to the Colosseum. Try the mouthwatering porchetta,
sundried tomatoes and mustard sandwich. It is a small eatery, with no sitting room but there is a
park nearby where you could sit. The service is friendly and the owner speaks English. For these
large, delicious sandwiches you'll pay €6-8.

For a decent sized portion of fresh pasta you pay only about €5. The pasta is handmade in the
shop and topped with delicious flavors like Bolognese or red pesto. It is hard to beat the value for
money at this place and the price is the same if you sit or take-away. Great concept - try the
gnocchi!

Simple good tasting pasta by the Vatican. People wait in line to get their food here and for good
reason. The pasta is freshly made on the premises and for this kind of quality you can't beat the
price of €5-7. The staff are friendly and most customers take their food to go but there are a few
seats inside where you're served on paper plates with plastic utensils - but for that price and all
that flavor who cares!

This is a tiny place with no seating and it is always crowded with locals and tourists who have
discovered it. They change the kind of pizza available depending on what ingredients they have
but it is all delicious like the pumpkin cream prosciutto pizza. Other combos include the chili and
onion or the artichoke and sausage. The pizza is made fresh when you order so it is always
straight from the oven. The service is friendly and quick while the prices are spot on.

This traditional pizza restaurant sells its pizza by weight; this is great if you want to sample several
different kinds of pizza. Their pizza toppings are fantastic like the rib eye, zucchini, rosemary and
gorgonzola - yum. They have an interesting order system where you get a number, and when your
number is displayed on a screen you can order. Really fresh, really popular and it will be the pizza
slice you dream of.

Crowds of locals come here to get the chocolate shots at the bar. In fact the place doubles as a
bookstore and bar serving alcohol and chocolate shots topped with whipped cream. Perfect to end

Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè Cafes $$


At this authentic Roman coffee shop you'll find amazing cappuccinos, chocolate covered coffee
beans and pastries. The strong coffee is infused with sugar and is delicious. There is usually a line
but it moves fast as people grab their caffeine fix and go. If you want to sit on one of the few seats
it costs extra. To order coffee here you pay at the cashier, get a receipt, take it to the barisa and he
prepares your brew. Definitely one of the best coffees in Rome.

Cheap and tasty best describes this place. Real Italian pizza and a few other Italian favorites like

The coffee here is fantastic and only €2. It is really a standing room only bar but they serve a
range of coffee drinks, hot and cold as well as some pastries. Many claim it is the best espresso in
Rome and that the granita is insanely delicious so caffeine addicts head this way!

Trattoria da Alfredo e Ada Restaurants $$

This is a truly authentic Italian eatery with only a few tables and mostly local clientele. The prices
are super cheap for the quality of food you get. There is no menu but the friendly staff tell you what
is on offer that day. There are no desserts but you are given cookies to dip in red wine at the end
of the meal. A wonderful, authentic Italian experience.
