DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF

AUTOMOBILE FRAME

ABSTRACT

Chassis or frame is a major component in a vehicle. In chassis different type of

failures are occur due to static and dynamic loading condition. In this present
work static and dynamic load characteristics are analysed using FE models from
this work. It is found that identifying location of high stress area, analysing
vibration, natural frequency and mode shape by using finite element method.
Modal updating of automobile chassis model will be done by adjusting the
selective properties such as mass density and Poisson’s ratio. Predicted natural
frequency and mode shape will be finding by using Ansys software. The cad
geometry of chassis is gener
DESIGN & ANALYSIS OF CAMSHAFT

Abstract

Camshaft is one of the key parts or components in the engines of automobile and other
vehicles. The goal of the project is to design cam shaft analytically, its modeling and analysis
under FEM. In FEM, behaviour of cam shaft is obtained by analysing the collective
behaviour of the elements to make the cam shaft robust at all possible load cases. This
analysis is an important step for fixing an optimum size of a camshaft and knowing the
dynamic behaviours of the camshaft. Initially the model is created by the basic needs of an
engine with the available background data such as power to be transmitted, forces acting over
the camshaft by means of valve train while running at maximum speed
ANALYSIS OF SPINDLE DUE TO TORQUE
AND THRUST DURING DRILLING
Abstract
Drilling is one of the most important machining operations as numerous holes must be drilled
in order to install mechanical fasteners for assembly in composite structures. Delamination is
a major problem associated with the drilling of fiber reinforced composite materials, which
degrades the mechanical properties of these materials. In this analysis, a 3D finite element
(FE) model of drilling in CFRP composite laminate is developed in ANSYS, which
accurately takes into account the dynamic characteristics involved in the process along with
the accurate geometrical considerations. The average critical thrust forces and torques
obtained using FE analysis, for a set of machining parameters are found.
DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF FLANGE
COUPLING IN POWER TRANSMISSION
ABSTRACT
A coupling is a device used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of
transmitting power. Coupling is used to connect two different shafts at their end and can slip
or fail depending upon the torque limit. Rigid flange coupling are designed for heavy loads or
industrial equipment. When joining shafts within a machine, mechanics can choose between
flexible and rigid couplings. The connecting methods for flange couplings are usually very
strong because of either the pressure of the material. This project deals with stress analysis of
rigid flange couplings subjected to Static loads using CAE. The design of flange coupling
will be done in PTC CREO and analysis using ANSYS softwares
DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF LEAF SPRING
IN HEAVY TRUCK
ABSTRACT
Reducing weight while increasing or maintaining strength of products is getting to be highly
important research issue in this modern world. Composite materials are one of the material
families which are attracting researchers and being solutions of such issue. In this paper we
describe design and analysis of composite leaf spring. The objective is to compare the
stresses and weight saving of composite leaf spring with that of steel leaf spring. The design
constraint is stiffness. The Automobile Industry has great interest for replacement of steel leaf
spring with that of composite leaf spring, since the composite materials has high strength to
weight ratio, good corrosion resistance. The material selected was glass fiber reinforced
polymer (E-glass/epoxy), carbon epoxy and graphite epoxy is used against conventional steel.
The design parameters were selected and analyzed with the objective of minimizing weight
of the composite leaf spring as compared to the steel leaf spring. The leaf spring was modeled
in creo4.0and the analysis was done using ANSYS 18.1 software. Keywords: - stiffness,
composite leaf spring, steel leaf spring, ANSYS 18.1 creo4.0.
