COMPARE AND CONTRAST

COMMONALITIES:

There is the commonality between the movie and the book of Argoncillo which is the time that there
was an election that followed Bonifacio was chosen Director of the Interior. Unfortunately his election
was insult by Daniel Tirona when Bonifacio was chosen to be a Director of the Interior. Consequently the
book and the movie there is a commonality which is the content was the same but there was distorted
information from the movie.

DIFFERENCES:

Both the movie (EL Presidente) and book of Argoncillo (The Revolution: First Phase) portrayed the same
content in this historical events. But the dissimilarity of both there is some events that was being
mention in the book but was not mention in the movie. There are some events that were not mention in
the movie but mention in the book.

CONTEXUAL ANALYSIS FROM THE MOVIE:

The historical events portrayed in the movie when Emilio Aguinaldo is inducted into the
katipunan and later assumes leadership it’s cavite El Viejo. Aguinaldo finally mobilized his troops and
takes the command of the katipunan forces in Cavite. As the rebels gain ground in cavite and several
provinces, it’s Magdalo and Magdiwang factions convene to elect provisional government. Andres
bonifacio oversees the Tejeros convention which elects Aguinaldo as president, Mariano Trias as vice-
president and himself as Interior of Minister. He storms out of the convention when Daniel Tirona
objects of his election. Meanwhile and embittered Bonifacio establishes his own revolutionary
government and is later arrested. Aguinaldo is concerned about Bonifacio’s action and wanted hi exiled,
but the war council advises his execution.
 The characters featured the significant contribution in politics which is the election of the
president down to director of Interior. Government, they featured on how to be an independent from
the Spaniards. They attribute the eloquent contribution in society on how to fight from the Spaniards
people so that they would not be defeated. Speaking of religion they attributed the significant
contribution through these particular places that would be the foundation of their life.
