Operating System: Only 64 bit
Windows 7 (64 bit) (Home Premium, Professional,
Enterprise, and Ultimate);Windows 8 (64-bit)(All Service
Packs); Windows 10 (64-bit); Windows 2008 Server R2;
Windows 2012 Server (All Service Packs).

Installing the Cadence License Manager on the server machine:
•Login as Administrator to the PC before installing the software.
• Plug in the hardware lock to the USB port of the computer.
(Please ignore the above step if the license is based upon MACID
of the computer).
•Copy the license file provided or you can browse during the installation
• Insert the SPB17.2 DVD
• Run the setup.exe to install the License Manager and the Products
• In the server machine you can install only the License Manager alone
where as in the client installation perform only Product Installation and
point the license path to server i.e. 5280@servername
•If the same PC acts as server and client then perform both License Manager
and Product Installation on the same PC

Accept the license agreement and select Next

Choose the location for the license manager

Select Install

 Browse for the text file license
(don’t make any changes in the license file)

Select Next and cross verify the Hostname with
your PC name and the same Hostname has to be
given during client installation 12
 Select OK
Utility will decide whether to install the
Dongle driver or not. Till Page 19 the
process varies based on OS else page 20
will be the next step of installation 13

Check the status confirming the installation of
License manager

 Select Product Installation to install the products.
Optional products under Optional Installation requires additional 21
license
Select Next

Accept the license agreement and select next

Select Complete if you want to install all the products else choose
Custom and provide control file or select the products to install
manually. Based on your selection the next few steps varies till Step
27.
Choose the user control according to your requirement. Choose
Anyone for default if there are no multiple users 24
Choose the Installation location and then select Next.
Provide the license path as 5280@serverhostname
alternatively you can follow steps in page 38 for license path 25
Browse for the controlfile.txt which is given along with the
license file else choose the products manually in the next step
skipping this step

Select PCB Editor footprint viewer if have
selected PCB tools in the previous step else

configuration utility and provide the license path pointing to server 38
5280 is the default port name and “server” is the PC
name/Hostname where the Hardware lock/MACid is
hosted 39
