1 Introduction
1.1 Disclaimers
Intellectual property rights and the special quality of the information and product details, etc. for
use are given by 3J Consulting & Services Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter 3JCNS). This Manual for J-Sketch is
available for all warranty conditions, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law. Also if it is
used by others without permission by 3JCNS accordingly all losses that occur may be charged by
3JCNS.

The 3JCNS has all intellectual property rights in this Manual and related software, and all source
code, object code, Manual and other information contained in this document, including all data. This
document commercially can’t be copied in whole or in part. If customer wants to copy disclaimer

3 J-Sketch Setting
In this chapter discuss Preparatory work for using Live Project in J-Sketch.
This Manual will be introduced by using the SAM Project of Sample Project of the AVEVA PDMS
installation.
Ex) SAM-Grid.pmldat
- Project Option
Copy the SAM-JGOption file of reference Option in %PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\pdmsuser
to project draft PIC folder. (%SAMPIC% Folder)

to PDMSUSER folder of PDMS installed folder.
a. Run PDMS
– PDMS Project enters the Draft Module.

Or it loading is through the way Drag & Drop in Command Window with selecting Library

– SPPURPOSE Set
Set SPPurpose of the created DEPT to “DB” using by command window.
SPPURPOSE “DB”
– Pens
Set default line & text attributes.
– After save (Savework), finish the Draft. If user uses the New Methods, REGI can create at
design module. Old methods have to create REGI in draft module.
But, it is not necessarily required, it can be prevented input errors about drawing is saved REGI (Draft
Registry) name when setting up.
– It goes into Admin Module by Free Security privileged Username (ex. SYSTEM)
– In Bar menu it selects Project → Module Definitions…
– Select DESIGN of the Modules and run the button "Advanced Settings ..."

– Select the Draft "PADD" Mode of Database Models and Mode change "Read / Write" then
"Apply" apply to run.

Let’s do as an example the left side of the direction of the external Dimension.
When drawings express Dimension View Edge is "0" as the first expression near Dimension Point to
View Edge and View Center to "1" when the User is to express Factor as shown below, input the Text
window.
When using this function, CE must be used keeping in "VIEW" or lower Hierarchy.

③ Detail Dim.
It defines the distance from View Edge to Detail Dimension.
④ Grid Dim.
It defines the distance from View Edge to Grid Dimension.
⑤ Overall Dim.
It defines the distance from View Edge to Overall Dimension.
⑦ Off
Margin is expressed turns off.
⑧ Detail Level
It can be used from 1 up to a maximum of 6 as Option values for finding the optimal location
against Tag created automatically. Level is lower it find the location of Tag in detail. However,
Level The lower drawing time is lengthened.
⑩ Angle of Rotation
It defines the angle to find the optimal position for Tag.

① Grid On/Off
On a case shown above Grid Tag is expressed Option according to define Grid Tag Type but if it
is Off the Grid Tag is not expressed. However it is represented at the Detail and Grid Dimension
Point. In other words, Grid Tag is not expressed.
② Dim. On/Off

On a case shown above, Detail, Grid, Overall Dimension are expressed, but if it is Off, it doesn't
express a Dimension in that direction.
③ Limit On/Off
Limit four vertices of View expressed in the coordinates, and each vertex for each On / Off can
be determined.
4.4 Dimension
It is the option to define the Grid attributes, Dimension Font, Line and Text Color.

② Line, Text Size setting and the color definition of Text by Dimension Type
It defines Detail Dimension for the letters, the line color and size.
Note, "Size Above" and "Size Below" input J-Sketch Library built in the size 2D Symbol.
In other words, it doesn't change Dimension Text Size when Text Size changes.
Actual if want to change Dimension Text Size, Dimension Symbol Changes through "9. J-Sketch
Dimension Symbol Utilities ... “and then it must be input this option changing the value.
If the two values don't match, it can be make a problem sorted Dimension.
a. Projected
If Tag of External Dimension of J-Sketch is too close it complete the drawing by moving
Dimension Tag completion as shown below. At this point, it is Option to set whether user
wants to move Projection Line about Grid Tag.

[Off] [On]
c. Source
It is Option to define the position Grid Source.
– Structure Name
It input the name of Design STRU Element Grid (Column) Information is stored.
– Grid System
The Grid System AVEVA PDMS of the functions have input in Design Database, it is a way to
input GRDSYS name.
d. Order
If selected View Scan for SCTN, Structure Name in c. Source, user can see this control.
e. Symbol
With an option to set the Grid Symbol Type, offered Type are as follows:

f. Length
It is the Option to define Symbol Tag Length of the Grid. A length standard is the distance
to the Center of Grid No.
④ Expression
When Pipe Elevation of External Dimension denote, it defines that methods of used Prefix and
the Equipment Coordinate value representation and represented Dimension Projection Line
Style in View.
a. Elev. Prefix
When External Dimension on Pipe Line denote, it is Prefix with Elevation is expressed.
The following items Prefix must be defined according to Type of Pipe Elev.
b. Pipe Elev.
It defines the pipe Elevation Type. When it selects Pipe Elevation Type Elev. Prefix should
be considered.

c. Equi. Axes
When Equipment Dimension denote of the external Dimension, it is option to set
Equipment coordinate values Type is represented at 2nd Line and Equipment Name is
represented at 1st Line.

⑤ Exception List
It is definition option for excluding Pipe size or Pipe fluid system in external dimension.
2 options can be applied together.
a. Size List
Size list that user wants to exclude can be defined.
b. Fluid List
Fluid list that user wants to exclude can be defined.
c. Criteria
Define the criteria that user wants to exclude.
ex.) Function of ZONE EQ ‘EXISTS’

4.5 Annotation
It is Option to define Tag On / Off, Line color and Text attribute is represented and used Tagging
Program if used Customization according to Annotation Type is represented in View.

① Tag On/Off
Annotation types provided by J-Sketch are as follows: it is Option to define whether express or
not each Tag entry as following.

It defines the Text Color of Tag. (If the Line Color is Red, Text Color is White)

④ Tagging Program
There are many Tag ways or Tag attribute by Tag is required for each User or Project.
When user cannot define these varying with J-Sketch Option, the Option is used.
In this case, it can be Customization with PML %pmllib%\J-Sketch\User\ folder provided by
PDMS. (If user needs the PML for Special Tagging Program user can receive technical support
to 3JCNS)
– Max.
If user input 50 in the maximum angle, it doesn't express Slope Mark to make up of larger
values than 1/50 Slope Angle.
– Step
If has been included in the value Min. and Max values Slope Angle, it is Option that
define units of Slope Angle to express. In other words, Slope Angle is "297" and Step is
"10" is entered, Slope Angle is expressed on the drawing is expressed nearest Step value
"300".
⑥ Flow Size
It is Option that defines the Flow Mark Length is represented in the drawing.

4.6 2D Symbol
It is Option to define the conditions Tag Type (General, Symbolic or PDIM), 2D Symbol Name, Tag
Text Size, Terminator, Frame Type used for various Tags.

It set Label Type of Tag. Tag Type to support is as follows:

② Symbol Name
If user set the Symbolic Tag Type as above, it should be input 2D Symbol Template Name

– Remove Column
It is Option to delete Column is selected Nozzle Table Column List in the Column List.
④ Column Definition
– Attributes
It defines Nozzle Table should be represented on the Column of
the attributes.
They are provided attributes as shown right.

– Heading
It input the Description to heading the other hand, expressed Attribute properties
expressed in a Nozzle Table Header.
– Width
It defines Column width.
– Cell Height
It defines Nozzle Table height of the Nozzle Line.
– Justification
It defines to Column the horizontal alignment (select Left, Right, and Center)
– Update Column
First of all it select Column want to modify in ② Nozzle Table Column List and it can
Update through Update Column” Label Button after modifying Column contents.
⑤ Nozzle Position
Located is at the top of the right side of the Nozzle Table (see figure below) set up.
Input directly or can pick wanted Point in Sheet through .
– Table Order by

To express Nozzle No. in Nozzle Table or 2D View it defines Rule of Text expressed in the
name of PDMS Nozzle.
If want to add Prefix (ex. #) to all Nozzle No. it can be set Prefix by using "+" like Last
Expression Rule.
⑧ Drawing Grid
– Grid On/Off
It defines whether the expression Grid No. of Drawing with Equipment Name of Equipment
Name Line in Nozzle Table.

4.8 Others
It is Option for setting of Unit, Position, Processing and Discipline Classification.

– Limit Unit
Limit Unit is represented in the drawing and Tag unit is set.

It defines Unit of Nozzle Size in Nozzle Table and Bore Size Tag of Reducing Component in
Tag of View

② Shift Position
It shifts generally from Plant Origin coordinate values for the convenience of modeling plant
coordinate high value. However, by the Original values of the coordinates must be input in the
drawing it can be represented Original coordinate values in the drawing to input value to move

by using Shift Position. as the Used destination, it used when expressed View Limit, Coordinate
values are expressed in the external dimensions of Equipment and Pipe Line Elevation.
④ Process definition
– Pre Process by User
It can define Process is performed the previous drawing automation, generally it is possible
to call Command is used Command Windows or PML program.

⑤ Discipline Set
It set the conditions for classification of Discipline. The basic setting values are the following.

a. PDMS Type
Select to Backing Sheet. This program can import for following types.
- Backing Sheet(Border)
- 2D Symbol
- ISODRAFT Symbol
b. SHLB Name
Backing sheet should be stored except “/” and input the name of the SHLB.
If SHLB existed, change CE and run “CE” button.
c. BACK Name
Input drawing backing sheet name except “/”.
If BACK existed, change CE and run “CE” button.
d. Scale
Set scale was created by AutoCAD border file. Recommend 1:1 Scale.
e. DXF Path
Define DXF file path and name saved at 5.2 (Ex. C:\Border.dxf)
f. Write Mode
Select Write Mode to Overwrite.
g. Import In to PDMS
If there are items within AutoCAD hatching takes a lot of times to convert.

– Save At DEPT
DEPT List displayed written from “3.4 Hierarchy Creation for Drawings saving”
User must select a store DEPT. Refer to “3.4 Hierarchy Creation for Drawings saving” for
new DEPT creation.
Depending on DEPT selection, Sub-hierarchy (REGI, DRWG, SHEE, VIEW) will be displayed
automatically.
– Save At REGI
Select REGI or create new REGI.
When user creates a new REGI, use “New” button

If enter a blank name, REGI creating a does not run. (Same DRWG and SHEE)
– Drawing No
User can select the new DRWG or pre-existing DRWG.
New DRWG and delete DRWG is same to REGI.
– Sheet Name
User can select the new SHEE or pre-existing SHEE. SHEE size uses DEPT’s size attribute by
default. Also, if not change SHEE size, SHEE uses backing sheet of DEPT by default.
In case of changing SHEE size, user has to change through bar menu Modify → Sheet →
Definition in Draft module.
c. View List
View list display for selected SHEE. If selected SHEE in view list, all UI gadget update attributes.
It is a menu for setting about limits of drawings the value of Min. and Max.

It define the drawing Limits by the Grid using the information in "3.1 Definition of Grid
(Column / Frame)".
Described below in the "Pick View" or "Pick Point" used to define the drawing Limits, but
eventually the values below the Limits of the "Pick View" or "Pick Point" and is reflected
through the Update. In addition, the following items directly by entering the Limits, Limits
can define a more accurate.
[Drawing Limits]
First of all, user must be selected from below Axes Radio Group when want to define Axes.
In general, when specify for the first time Limits select the "3D" of Axes Radio Group.
"Pick View" button to run, it should pick the minimum and maximum Point to express in
the drawing in 3D View.
Picking a location value shows the X, Y, and Z of Min. and Max.
If, when want to redefine certain Axes, select the first of its Axes of Axes Radio Group, it
can be defined through "Pick View" button.
For reference when want to redefine the specific Axes (X, Y, Z-Axes) in case of X, Y Axes, it
run after Direction of 3D Design View change Plan North
In case of Z Axes it should be used to change to Look East, West, North or South.
[Position Control]
This function does not need to change the direction of 3D View Before using, for more
information about how to use is the same as the "Pick View".

– Name
Name input by default as Sheet Name + /V1.
If changes VIEW name, key-in view name in text gadget.
– Title (optional)
This is purpose of view description. This is not a View Title in 2D drawing.
Key-in and must run icon.
– Scale
It defines View Scale. View Size must be careful not large compared to the Sheet.
If not display scale in list, user can add scale at \J-Sketch\Default\jgviewscalelist.pmldat file.
– Dir.
It defines Drawing Sheet Size. View Size must be careful not large compared to the Sheet.
– Angle
It defines Angle of the drawing. In general, it is Option to make View of the horizontal scale
larger than the vertical size. Direction is counterclockwise. Available range is -180 to
180.
– X-Point / Y-Point
Define center point of view in Sheet.
View 4 vertices must be careful not to stray. And X/Y point should be considered the
external dimension enough space.

Factor of External Dimension target is defined. "5.1 Dim. Factor” refer item

Dimension the left, right, up and down at each location, whether want to express is
defined. "5.3 Dim. On / Off " refer item

Internal Annotation (various Tag, etc.) is defined whether expressed.

Nozzle
Nozzle Table defines whether the represented.
Savework
It defines whether to save for drawings created automatically after drawing automation.
– Check Size
As shown below, it shows occupied View Size (internal square) in the case of applying
Sheet (external square) Size and Scale defined the attributes of View.
When this function uses, Clipping function turn it off and should be used.
Note that, it must be defined View Size always is smaller than the Sheet Size drawings Size
and Scale.

"Clipping & Options" Toggle Button which PDMS 3D View of the basic function to turn off.
[Clipping] [Un-Clipping]
View limits can be defined by using point path for non-flat type plane.
Plane mode can change between Step Section plane and Flat plane though Change Plane Type.
This button is the function of plane mode switching.
Before change the Step Section Plane, direction of 3D view must change to looking east or north.

Add path in “Point – Hor. / Vert.”(Points use the relative coordinate values from 1st point). Run
Set Section Plane button to complete.
j. Create/Update Drawing
If overlap with existing view limit, user have to confirm for continue work.
If selected “Use File Draw” toggle option, user has to define drawlist text file path as below.
In this case, 3D view drawlist will be ignoring.
– Get Data
It shows List the selected drawing information from "a" ~ "f" item and shows Design
Element be represented in the 3D View drawing by using Draw List.
In addition, it shows 3D View by using View Limit and Automatic Clipping. This function

– Delete
First, drawing information that want to delete, select from the List then shall be deleted.
User can select and delete multiple at once.
– Update Drawlist
If drawings is Already updated Draw List about items of created drawings information, it is
function that update existing drawing information using Drawlist of 3D View of the current.
– Un-Claim
If user run 2 PDMS draft and design module, PDMS is registered with the claim
automatically. This button can dismiss claim for created or modified draft DB elements.
– From File
If user are using is written with Excel Form(Drawing-Data-for-DB.xls) by drawing
information supplied %PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\Drawing_Data\, it creates drawing
information List at once with using the Draw List Has been added to the 3D View. It has the
advantage of being able to define quick drawing if use this function.
– To File
If drawings is Already updated Draw List about items of created drawings information, it is
function that update existing drawing information using Drawlist of 3D View of the current.

[Clipping] [Un-Clipping]
First of all, user must be selected from below Axes Radio Group when want to define Axes.

c. Dimension Expression
Dimension the left, right, up and down at each location, whether want to express is defined.
"5.3 Dim. On / Off" refer item
d. Overall Expression
– Internal
Internal Annotation (various Tag, etc.) is defined whether expressed.
– External
External Dimension is defined whether expressed.
– Nozzle
Nozzle Table defines whether the represented.
– Savework
It defines whether to save for drawings created automatically after drawing automation.
– Scale
It defines View Scale. View Size must be careful not large compared to the Sheet.
– Size
It defines Drawing Sheet Size. View Size must be careful not large compared to the Sheet.
– Dir.
It defines view not only Plan View but also various Section View through View Direction.
– Angle
It defines Angle of the drawing. In general, it is Option to make View of the horizontal scale

Note that, it must be defined View Size always is smaller than the Sheet Size drawings Size

If "3.5 DESIGN Module Definition change" doesn’t set the item should be directly input the
REGI name.
However, the user can input the wrong name, so if possible it shall be set items "3.5
DESIGN Module Definition change".
– Drawing Name
Input name drawings. The name is a good idea to input "Plan Drawing No" is represented
in the drawing Pipe ISO name. In the Draft Module because it report this name from the
Utility Plan Drawing No. Report.

– Delete

function that update existing drawing information using Drawlist of 3D View of the current

it is the reverse function as above "From File", that is created List of drawing information,
the information in the Excel File Format (in the format used by "From File").

– By Click
That user want to add to Dimension Point (Modeling Item) is added with Click.

– By Click – Tag
This function is the same how to use with "By Click" but it expresses Pipe Elevation
according to the Pipe Name and conditions as shown below.
– By Rectangular
External Dimension in the range that user wants to add is added.

Dimension target items in drawn square of view without Click add Dimension Point.
– By Rectangular – Tag
Option is the same as above and it is the function to use when user wants to express with

17 J-Sketch Update
After installation, if need J-Sketch Update on the menu is used.
Windows Start → All Programs 3JCNS → J-Sketch → Update → J-Sketch Update is run.
Be careful before run Update user must be exit the PDMS and then run.
It shows that the Installed Version and the latest Version information offered 3J Consulting &
Services of the.
Although Version is same user can update on the needs of 3J Consulting & Service.
If download the installation file, user can be saved compressed installation files in the specified
location by running Download.
