1 Introduction

1.1 Disclaimers
Intellectual property rights and the special quality of the information and product details, etc. for
use are given by 3J Consulting & Services Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter 3JCNS). This Manual for J-Sketch is
available for all warranty conditions, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law. Also if it is
used by others without permission by 3JCNS accordingly all losses that occur may be charged by
3JCNS.

2 J-Sketch Installation

2.1 Minimum System Requirements


To run J-sketch it needs the minimum hardware requirements and pre-installed software items.

2.2 J-Sketch Installation

Run Setup.exe in the supplied


Software Folder.
And next select "Next (N)>"

To read about the details Involved in

PDMS12.0.SP6 and PDMS11.5 install

3 J-Sketch Setting
In this chapter discuss Preparatory work for using Live Project in J-Sketch.
This Manual will be introduced by using the SAM Project of Sample Project of the AVEVA PDMS
installation.

3.1 Definition of Grid (Column/Frame)


Grid information is used in the following case.
- Drawing Limit Setting in Design Module
- Grid data source during Drawing Automation(Option)

a. Create Grid Data File


Run Notepad or Text Editor as follows: Input Grid Data.

– It does not matter to omit if do not need Axes.
– It will create from coordinate values small things.
– Refer to the file % PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\Grid\SAM-Grid.pmldat.
– Grid Data File as required can be used appropriately in Option by creating multiple.

b. Save Grid Data File


It is recommended to save on created Grid Data File on the Project ISO folder (ex. %SAMISO%).
The file name generally shall be set Project Code + "-Grid.pmldat".

Ex) SAM-Grid.pmldat

3.2 J-Sketch Option setting for Live Project


The J-Sketch Project Option is the file the stored the various options and settings required for the
drafting. In order to use J-Sketch Settings must be completed in advance can be used successfully.

a. Copy Project Option File


Option can be create for Project or User.

- Project Option
Copy the SAM-JGOption file of reference Option in %PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\pdmsuser
to project draft PIC folder. (%SAMPIC% Folder)

- User Option
Copy the SAM-JGOption file of reference Option in %PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\pdmsuser
to PDMSUSER folder of PDMS installed folder.

b. Option File Rename


It must be changed corresponding project name because three digits in front of SAM-JGOption
means the Project Code. Ex) SAM-JGOption

c. Grid Option File Path Setting


Options should modify as shown below with using Text Edit Program such as Notepad file as
defined in section 3.1 of the Grid File path.

3.3 J-Sketch for 2D Library Loading


J-Sketch to 2D Library used in the various tasks that are stored in Draft Database.

a. Run PDMS
– PDMS Project enters the Draft Module.

b. J-Sketch Library Macro File Loading


Because PDMS in the same Department (Type: DEPT) for 2 Type (AVEVA provided by the PDMS
Font, TrueType Font) can’t be used together, it should have to loading by selecting the Library
Macro File in accordance with Font is required in Project.

– Move to Folder %PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\Draft_Library\ folder.


– It should be used to select Macro File in Project.
. PDMS Font for: J-Sketch_PDMSFont.lib
. True Type Font for: J-Sketch_TrueTypeFont.lib
– How to Loading is Display => Command Window to run, enter the following.
Under the Macro is available as the case when Project Font used as PDMS Font.

$M /%PMLLIB%\J-Sketch\Reference\Draft_Library\J-Sketch_PDMSFont.lib
Or it loading is through the way Drag & Drop in Command Window with selecting Library
File in Windows Explorer.

3.4 Hierarchy Creation for Drawings saving


It works to create to be specified in Draft Hierarchy When J-Sketch using the automatic generation of
View.

a. Create New DEPT


– PDMS Bar menu Create → Department create a new DEPT.

– Enter DEPT Name and click OK

b. DEPT attribute Definition


– Font and 2D Element Color Definition
Note that as defined above, in accordance with J-Sketch Library Font must set the Font
attribute of DEPT. It would be wise to specify Text to be used and the Color Line.

– Representation (Style) Reference Definition


It should be set the attributes is used when View automatically creates with J-Sketch. If,
Manual (PDMS Draft by the basic functions), even if intend to create a View this attribute
shall apply to default Representation (Style).

– SPPURPOSE Set
Set SPPurpose of the created DEPT to “DB” using by command window.
SPPURPOSE “DB”

If set this attribute, user can uses New Methods J-Sketch.

– Pens
Set default line & text attributes.

c. Create new REGI


– It is Registry that Drawing is saved to be used for positioning option when using the
automatic generation of a View.

– After save (Savework), finish the Draft. If user uses the New Methods, REGI can create at
design module. Old methods have to create REGI in draft module.

3.5 DESIGN Module Definition change


When user creates View by J-Sketch, it changes as shown below for reading and writing Design
Module in the Draft DB. If change this definition, user can uses New Methods J-Sketch.

But, it is not necessarily required, it can be prevented input errors about drawing is saved REGI (Draft
Registry) name when setting up.

– It goes into Admin Module by Free Security privileged Username (ex. SYSTEM)
– In Bar menu it selects Project → Module Definitions…
– Select DESIGN of the Modules and run the button "Advanced Settings ..."

– Select the Draft "PADD" Mode of Database Models and Mode change "Read / Write" then
"Apply" apply to run.

After Savework, finish Admin Module.

4 J-Sketch Drawing Options


It define all kinds of Options need to drawings automate.

Run menu Utilities → J-Sketch Administration → J-Sketch Drawing Options ...

4.1 Dim. Factor


Automatically when create, it creates External Dimension to the direction of the Option with a
drawing 3D items required Dimension of pipe items by Filtering in program.
At this point, if too many items are represented to View, should be reduce to express a range of
external Dimension (View Center items in inside the Dimension).

Let’s do as an example the left side of the direction of the external Dimension.
When drawings express Dimension View Edge is "0" as the first expression near Dimension Point to
View Edge and View Center to "1" when the User is to express Factor as shown below, input the Text
window.

At run time, as shown below User-selected Factor on the screen is represented by Hatching.
If the View has already been written, users could be easily understood written items to external
Dimension.

When using this function, CE must be used keeping in "VIEW" or lower Hierarchy.

② Display Off
Hatching Factor in the picture above turns off.

4.2 Dim. Distance


It defines External Dimension representing the interval and distance.

① Dimension Tag Gap


It defines the Gap between Dimension Tag.

② Drawing View GAP


It defines the Gap from View Edge to the start Gap of Dimension Projection Line.

③ Detail Dim.
It defines the distance from View Edge to Detail Dimension.

④ Grid Dim.
It defines the distance from View Edge to Grid Dimension.

⑤ Overall Dim.
It defines the distance from View Edge to Overall Dimension.

⑥ Margin Display in Drawing


It put the interval values to View Edge and “Margin Display in Drawing" is selected as follows:
View Dimension, which is expressed in locations.
When using this function, CE must be used keeping in "VIEW" or lower Hierarchy.

⑦ Off
Margin is expressed turns off.

⑧ Detail Level
It can be used from 1 up to a maximum of 6 as Option values for finding the optimal location
against Tag created automatically. Level is lower it find the location of Tag in detail. However,
Level The lower drawing time is lengthened.

⑨ Allowed the Max. Dist.


It defines the maximum distance to find the optimal position for Tag.

⑩ Angle of Rotation
It defines the angle to find the optimal position for Tag.

4.3 Dim. On / Off


It defines Gird and the external representation of Dimension according to the Dimension direction of
whether or not represented. In addition, it defines whether the expression of View Limit and it
defines by the option of the Limit Unit of the "4.8 Others" item.

① Grid On/Off

On a case shown above Grid Tag is expressed Option according to define Grid Tag Type but if it
is Off the Grid Tag is not expressed. However it is represented at the Detail and Grid Dimension
Point. In other words, Grid Tag is not expressed.

② Dim. On/Off

On a case shown above, Detail, Grid, Overall Dimension are expressed, but if it is Off, it doesn't
express a Dimension in that direction.

③ Limit On/Off

Limit four vertices of View expressed in the coordinates, and each vertex for each On / Off can
be determined.

4.4 Dimension
It is the option to define the Grid attributes, Dimension Font, Line and Text Color.

① All Text Font & Arrow Type


It defines each Font type Represented in the drawing.
That time it select stored Font in the Library Font, In other words, a Font Group is defined when
creating DEPT (Department). Font No. 1 to 4 is PDMS Font and From 5 is a True Type Font.

User can define Dimension’s arrow type as follow.


User select to Arrow, auto-alignment when drawing automation.

② Line, Text Size setting and the color definition of Text by Dimension Type

It defines Detail Dimension for the letters, the line color and size.

Note, "Size Above" and "Size Below" input J-Sketch Library built in the size 2D Symbol.

In other words, it doesn't change Dimension Text Size when Text Size changes.
Actual if want to change Dimension Text Size, Dimension Symbol Changes through "9. J-Sketch
Dimension Symbol Utilities ... “and then it must be input this option changing the value.

If the two values don't match, it can be make a problem sorted Dimension.

③ Grid Related attribute

a. Projected
If Tag of External Dimension of J-Sketch is too close it complete the drawing by moving
Dimension Tag completion as shown below. At this point, it is Option to set whether user
wants to move Projection Line about Grid Tag.

b. Display Grid Line in View


It is Option to set the Grid Line On / Off in View. Grid Line color in View is determined
according to Note Line in the attribute of the DEPT.

c. Source
It is Option to define the position Grid Source.

– External File Name


"3.1 Definition of Grid (Column / Frame)" of "a. Create Grid Data File” in the item, it define
the location of File that contains Grid information.
Because it may be used the same name Grid No in the Project it has more advantages than
Structure Name method and Grid System method. The best recommendation is a Grid
Source defines method.

– View Scan for SCTN


Grid information expressed using the name of the vertical SCTN in VIEW.
In the name of the Element of SCTN must have been entered each Grid No. the name must
be entered the Y-axis "+" X-axis as Rule. (ex. / A-1)

– Structure Name
It input the name of Design STRU Element Grid (Column) Information is stored.

– Grid System
The Grid System AVEVA PDMS of the functions have input in Design Database, it is a way to
input GRDSYS name.

d. Order
If selected View Scan for SCTN, Structure Name in c. Source, user can see this control.

e. Symbol
With an option to set the Grid Symbol Type, offered Type are as follows:

f. Length
It is the Option to define Symbol Tag Length of the Grid. A length standard is the distance
to the Center of Grid No.

④ Expression
When Pipe Elevation of External Dimension denote, it defines that methods of used Prefix and
the Equipment Coordinate value representation and represented Dimension Projection Line
Style in View.

a. Elev. Prefix
When External Dimension on Pipe Line denote, it is Prefix with Elevation is expressed.
The following items Prefix must be defined according to Type of Pipe Elev.

b. Pipe Elev.
It defines the pipe Elevation Type. When it selects Pipe Elevation Type Elev. Prefix should
be considered.

c. Equi. Axes
When Equipment Dimension denote of the external Dimension, it is option to set

⑤ Exception List
It is definition option for excluding Pipe size or Pipe fluid system in external dimension.
2 options can be applied together.

a. Size List
Size list that user wants to exclude can be defined.

b. Fluid List
Fluid list that user wants to exclude can be defined.

Set for “A” System No Option Set

Define the criteria that user wants to exclude.

4.5 Annotation
It is Option to define Tag On / Off, Line color and Text attribute is represented and used Tagging
Program if used Customization according to Annotation Type is represented in View.

It defines the Text Color of Tag. (If the Line Color is Red, Text Color is White)

④ Tagging Program
There are many Tag ways or Tag attribute by Tag is required for each User or Project.
When user cannot define these varying with J-Sketch Option, the Option is used.
In this case, it can be Customization with PML %pmllib%\J-Sketch\User\ folder provided by
PDMS. (If user needs the PML for Special Tagging Program user can receive technical support
to 3JCNS)

⑤ Slope Mark Properties.


It can define the minimum and maximum angle is allowed the attribute for Slope Angle
representation.
– Min.
If user input a minimum angle of 500, it doesn't express Slope Mark to make up of smaller
values than 1/500 Slope Angle.

– Max.
If user input 50 in the maximum angle, it doesn't express Slope Mark to make up of larger
values than 1/50 Slope Angle.

– Step
If has been included in the value Min. and Max values Slope Angle, it is Option that
define units of Slope Angle to express. In other words, Slope Angle is "297" and Step is
"10" is entered, Slope Angle is expressed on the drawing is expressed nearest Step value
"300".

⑥ Flow Size
It is Option that defines the Flow Mark Length is represented in the drawing.

4.6 2D Symbol
It is Option to define the conditions Tag Type (General, Symbolic or PDIM), 2D Symbol Name, Tag
Text Size, Terminator, Frame Type used for various Tags.

If user set the Symbolic Tag Type as above, it should be input 2D Symbol Template Name

If Tag Type is the PDIM Type or General Type, Tag Text Size shall be declared.

4.7 Nozzle Table

⑥ Equipment / Nozzle Line setting


– It defines to Line and Text Color specifies.
– It defines to Text Font and Font Size specifies.

⑦ Nozzle Data Attribute


– Nozzle Code
Nozzle Code has been entered in the attribute must be set according to variety Nozzle
Material Code is input user or each Project is built on PDMS.

5 J-Sketch DXF Importing Utility


This chapter explains the import to PDMS backing sheet library from AutoCAD DXF border file.

5.1 Move to Administration Application


This task can use the SYSTEM user or member of DRAFTADMIN team user.

Change application in the following order.


– CE should move to where want to save the LIBY or SHLB sheet library. (ex. /J-Sketch-BACKS)
– Run Draft → Administration…
– Run Draft → Sheet Libraries…

5.2 Prepare AutoCAD Border File


– Open AutoCAD border file, scale 1:1 A1 (841x594) or A0 (1189x841) as written.
– AutoCAD Layer can use alphabet or numeric name only.
– AutoCAD Layer cannot use space in layer name.
– Run explode for every entities.
– If use image for company logo, change to hatching pattern. Image cannot import in PDMS.
– In addition, PDMS detail point representation limits. Some point does not represent less than
0.25mm.

– Select all items to copy(Ctrl + C).


– Create new AutoCAD and paste at 0, 0
– Set AutoCAD limits with sheet size.
– Run File → Save as, save to C:\Border.dxf file format by AutoCAD R12/LT2 DXF Version.

− The rule (Text and Line Type) can define the conversion between AutoCAD and PDMS.
Change J-Sketch\DXF\JTStyleTable.pmlobj file.

7 J-Sketch Design Tools


It is a function that is used when want to create View automatically generate for drawing by J-Sketch.
For J-Sketch is easier and faster to create Drawing View it is the ability to define Drawing View
information which want to create using 3D View in Design Module without Draft Module.

7.1 Run PDMS


– Run PDMS for performing J-Sketch.
– Log-In window, enter as shown below PDMS and Run Design Module.

7.2 Run J-Sketch – DB Write Drawing Data Type (New Method)


Run bar menu Utilities → J-Sketch Design Utility...

– If change Design Module Definition in Admin Module and set SPPurpose of DEPT to “DB”,
display as following UI.

– This method is writing type at Draft DB directly in Design module.


– If user were running PDMS Draft module, DB claim must be careful because it can cause the
same active element. User can solve DB claim through UNCLAIM All command or Draft Menu.

defined through 2 Point.

e. Add Within Volume

– Name
Name input by default as Sheet Name + /V1.
If changes VIEW name, key-in view name in text gadget.

– Title (optional)

① Add Dimension Points

It is used when want to add a new Dimension Point or External Dimension missing. it should be

– By Click
That user want to add to Dimension Point (Modeling Item) is added with Click.
This Option is added only Dimension Point.

– By Click – Tag
This function is the same how to use with "By Click" but it expresses Pipe Elevation
according to the Pipe Name and conditions as shown below.

– By Rectangular
External Dimension in the range that user wants to add is added.
It is the Utility to add Dimension Point like "BY Click" but it adds to find automatically

It is function to move to left / right / up / down units of 0.5mm about Dimension Tag of

④ External Dimension Alignment
