About This Manual
Purpose
This manual describes the hardware composition of the ZXRAN V9200, including the
chassis, boards, and cables.

Intended Audience
This manual is intended for:
l Hardware installation engineers
l Maintenance engineers

What Is in This Manual


This manual contains the following chapters.

Chapter 1, Chassis Describes the chassis configurations of the ZXRAN V9200.

Chapter 2, Boards Describes the functions, panels, interfaces, and indicators of the
boards in the ZXRAN V9200.

Chapter 3, Cables Describes the cables for the ZXRAN V9200, including their overviews
and signal connection relations.

Chapter 1
Chassis
The ZXRAN V9200 is a baseband unit. It can be integrated into the cabinet of a macro
base station. It is connected to the RSU inside the cabinet or connected to the remote
RRU of a distributed base station, see Figure 1-1.

2.1 Switching Board


Switching board is used to control and manage the baseband unit as well as to provide
transmission interfaces and system clock. There are two types of switching boards:
VSWc0 and VSWc2

2.1.1 Switching Board VSWc0


Function
The functions of VSWc0 are described as follows:

l Implements LTE control plane and service plane protocols processing, including
S1AP, X2AP, RRC, and PDCP.
l Implements Ethernet switching function and implements data switching for service
and control flow within the system.
l Processes Abis/Iub/S1/X2 interface protocols.
l Supports software management and local/remote BBU software upgrading.
l Supervises the running status of each board within the system.
l Provides the LMT interface for local operation and maintenance.
l Provides GPS interface and manages GPS receivers.
l Supports synchronization to various clock sources, including GNSS, IEEE1588,
1PPS+TOD, and SyncE. It can select one according to the actual configuration.
l Provides a real-time clock for system operation and maintenance and calibrates the
real-time clock.
l Manages hardware management information, including that of racks, slots, boards,
software versions and board function configurations.
l Provides a USB interface for software upgrading and base station commissioning.

2.1.2 Switching Board VSWc2


Function
The functions of VSWc2 are described as follows:
l VSWc2 accomplishes LTE control plane and service plane protocols processing
and 5G transmission transferring, including S1AP, X2AP, RRC, PDCP etc. or
accomplishes 5G control plane and service plane protocols processing and 5G
transmission transferring.
l Implements Ethernet switching function and implements data switching for service
and control flow within the system.
l Processes Abis/Iub/S1/X2 interface protocols.
l Supports software management and local/remote BBU software upgrading.
l Supervises the running status of each board within the system.
l Provides the LMT interface for local operation and maintenance.

2.2 Baseband Processing Board


The baseband processing board, which processes the physical layer protocols and frame
protocol specified by 3GPP. There are three types of BP boards: VBPc0, VBPc1 and
VBPc5.

2.2.1 Baseband Processing Board VBPc0


Function
VBPc0 is a baseband processing board. It processes the 2G, 3G, and 4G baseband
protocols defined by the 3GPP. Its functions are described as follows:

l Processes physical layer protocols.


l Processes MAC, RLC and PDCP protocols.
l Provides IQ data mesh network between all baseband boards.
l Provides CPRI interfaces.

by the 3GPP. Its functions are described as follows:

l Supports MAC, RLC, and PDCP protocols.
l Provides IQ data mesh network between all baseband boards.
l Provides CPRI/eCPRI interfaces.

3.2 Grounding Cable


Function
A grounding cable is used to connect the grounding interface of the ZXRAN V9200 to an
earth mat for device security and personal safety.

External View
The grounding cable is a yellow-green cable with a cross-sectional area of 16 mm 2. Figure
3-2 shows an external view of the grounding cable.
