The Department of Education headed by Secretary Leonor
Briones issued a pertinent guidelines on increasing the number of
school days in the Elementary and Secondary School curriculum and in consonance with the thrust on quality education through a more relevant and meaningful basic education program. A Mid-year Program Review and Evaluation (MPRE) was done simultaneously in all public schools in the country. A successful implementation was conducted last October 22 – 25, 2018. The objectives of this program were the following:
a. to evaluate the progress attained in the implementation of
the educational program of the school b. to review the performance of teachers and the school staff with a view to addressing concerns through cooperative effort; and c. to provide pupils/students with off-school learning experience undertaken either individually or in group in order to apply learnings in the different subjects in areal-life context.
Day 1 morning session
In the morning of October 22, 2018 the first day activity
conducted was the District Meeting held at Lanton Elementary School covered court participated by eight schools belong to Apopong District under the leadership of our District Supervisor Sir Dante P. Cuadrado.
The program commenced with a choral presentation of
musical invocation from the selected teachers of General Santos School for the Arts followed by the singing of the National anthem and Region Hymn. An opening remarks given by Ma’am Marilou E. Riῆos captivated the crowd to listen attentively then a heartwarming statement of the purpose by Sir Dante P. Cuadrado, District Supervisor of Apopong. Then, presentation of the participants were introduced by the principals of every school in the Apopong District. Newly hired teachers were given a special mention during that presentation.
Afterwards, was the singing of Serbisyo Sibil. The highlight in
the program was the training itself. Two speakers were invited to discuss a relevant topic. The first speaker was a devoted public servant and had an expertise on the matter with regards of Learning Resources Management System (LRMS). His topic was very useful for teachers to use in getting learning materials from this portal. The second topic was about corporal punishment and its effects on learner’s education. This was brilliantly tackled by Sir Renato G. Cabesas. The morning session ended with a commitment of the teachers to embrace changes with a positive attitude.
Day 1 Afternoon session

Mohamad A. Andatuan huddled in one place (Peak Power Room) to check the teacher’s attendance and group the teachers according to their assigned grade level. Few reminders were given to be a basis of their group activity. Per grade level chose one classroom where they can do their interactive brainstorming regarding the tracking of competencies. The grade five teachers seriously and religiously listed their least mastered skills during the first semester. Encoding and submission of reports on tracking of competencies was done productively. Learning interventions, learning materials, and remedial reinforcements were developed.
