THE RESEARCHERS
ABSTRACT

The proposed Semi-Automated School Registral System of Asian

Learning Center Pajo, Lapu-lapu City can regulate and process, documentation

and files of students automatically. Using the system, student documentation

process will be easier. The system enables the authorized faculty to keep

information about the students. The Semi-Automated School Registral System

was conceived to the manual process of enrollment, to have an organized flow of

and ease of work. It can minimize the processing time to order to access records

of the students quickly so that enrollment process will be much faster than usual.

The purpose of this study is to fulfill a better system that will serve as a

more reliable tool in registering and enrolling students in an institute. The study is

to show the innovation of registration and enrollment systems from traditional to

high-end technology. The study also serves the purpose of revealing the

mechanics of the said system. The user interface provides ease through its

organized interface and functionality.

Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

INTRODUCTION

Rationale

Most of the people nowadays using technology for the fastest and easiest

way of living. Computers seems to have played an important role in today's

generation. It is very much important especially to those busy people working in

a company or in the office. Also it is very helpful to the students for their

assignments, project, and etc. To relate all of this to our study, the proponents

wants to help the school, to improve their process of enrollment. Most of the

school face difficulties in handling their enrollment in manual process. It's

because manual system in recording and retrieving student's information is only

using ballpen and columnar sheet and it takes too much time, to manage the

data, to retrieved the data, update and etc.

Student information system has always been a difficult task, but it is more

so today than ever before, where administrators uses the traditional way of filing

records on a cabinet. As the population of the students goes up, it is becoming

more complex. Data should be stored in safer places, and can be retrieved easily

and fast when someone needs it. Administrator’s task has becoming more

complex. And one of the solution of this problem is to make their manual

enrollment system into computerized enrollment system.

Simply by proposing a Semi-Automated School Registral System. This

system design to perform the process involved in registration, compiling, storing

the files and data of every student's, modifying their strands as well. A student

account is entered into the system with corresponding due dates. This will also

contain the information especially for the irregular students, freshmen, and

transferee. This is designed to create a user-friendly program. The system must

be kept in place that is well ventilated to avoid any risk of damage to the system.

It must also be password protected to avoid from viruses and computer crime

such as information theft. The system includes a manual that can be used by the

authorized personnel to operate the program correctly. It must have a pleasing

design and should be right coded for the benefit of the user. Audiences involved

in the system must be secured and restricted. Proper maintenance and regular

check up of the system must be done to avoid any failures of it.

This will also be a big help to all the enrollment staff especially under the

management information system because they are the one who are entitled to

touch and read the information from here. It will help our institution to have

another system that will upgrade the enrollment processes so as to meet the

quality that our institutions are trying to meet.

Theoretical Background

This research assumes that the students and teachers of Asian Learning

Center agreed on using the Semi-Automated School Registral System for the

student information.
This study acquires by the following theories: David Garvin's 8 dimensions

of product quality management, Davis Technology Acceptance Model and Max

Weber's Modernization theory.

Figure 1. Theoretical and Conceptual Framework

There are possible theories can be used in order to navigate these three

(3) theories in correlation to our study. The theories that the researchers

propose is very relevant to our study are the following theories:

First theory is 8 dimensions of product quality management. This theory

derived from the theory of Dr. William Ouchi which is called Theory Z. 8

dimensions of product quality management clearly states that there are eight (8)

dimensions of product quality management that can be used at a strategic level

of a characteristics of an institution or organization. The eight dimensions are as

follows: (1) performance, (2) features, (3) reliability, (4) conformance, (5)

durability, (6) serviceability, (7) easthethics and (8) percieved quality. The

researchers will only use those three dimensions which are performance,

reliability and aesthetics. Performance refers to the performance of the said

system. Reliability refers to the consistency of the said system and Aesthetics

refers to the whole interfaceof the said system. These three dimensions will help

the proposed system on its development.

According to David Garvin of Harvard School cited that '' If quality is to be

managed, it musr first be understood.''It stated that if an institution or

organization's quality is needed to be manage, they must be understand the

quality of the entire institution or organization that has been use to prosper.

Student Information Behavioral System covers the main product quality of

management which the performance, it shows how the system works next is

reliability it shows how the system responds and lastly is the aesthetics the

creativity and uniqueness of the system.

Second theory is the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) This model

suggests that when users are presented with a new technology , a number of

factors influence their decision about how and when they will use it, notably;

 perceived usefulness(PU) -This was defined by Fred Davis as ''the degree

to which a person believes that using a particular system would enhance

his or her job performance.''

 Perceived ease-of-use(PEQU)-Davis defined this as ''the degree to which

a person believes that using a particular system would be from effort

(Davis, 1989).

Nowadays, Computer Technology brought fundamental and various

effects on all aspects of human life such as helping people do their job faster
accurate and effcient (papercamp/Daily-Time Record-System).
