 Eye-opening is the best term to describe the movie. It started by the means of
presenting facts so that the viewer will be aware of what the movie clip is about and what
issues are present in our society. I like how they discuss well-known scientist in the
beginning to make the video interesting. They supported it with facts and how it affects
the people’s beliefs nowadays. It also tackles environmental issues which I think is what
everyone should be aware of. It is said that magic and science is similar because of their
ability to function as a religion. Both of them can make us believe in facts or opinion
because these two have the impact on us since the beginning. It makes people wonder,
and when they believe it could change their faith or it could make their faith much
stronger. There are circumstances when you really don’t believe in a statement but
because science show facts, I relaized that it can change the game and change your
perception. Another is the quest for power. Science is involved in the invention of many
equipments, machines and weapons. It is sometimes frightening that science is one of the
causes why there are things like this. According to John Gray, only science can save us
from climate catastrophe and I disagree with this. There are many inventions that helped
us clean rivers, the sea, and many more. There are also inventions that reduce the use of
plastics and inventions where anyone can easily plant a tree. But this things will all go to
waste if we don't know how to take care of our enbironment. If we continue to lack
discipline, it will get worse. If we ignore the possibility to save our planet and ignore the
chance to do it, what will happen in the future? Today, science took a great part in
reestablishing what we destroy. So it is not only science, it is also ourselves who can
save us. Forget faith, only science can save us now. I disagree with Melanie’s statement
that we should forget faith, only science can save us now. Let us have faith in Him that
we will be saved. Indeed science is beneficial but without faith, what can we do to help?
We should help our self and also our planet. Science and human should be bestfriends
and start helping our own planet because no one else is responsible for it but us. The
future belongs to science said J. Nehru. To the status of our technology today, it is hard
to deny that we are being controlled by science. In the future, we cannot ensure how will
technology advance. And we cannot also tell if the humans own creation can destroy
themselves. Our future still belongs to us if we will start acknowledging our limitations
and start befriending science and utilize them properly. Roger Highfiled said that the
Future of science: we will have the power of the god. I disagree with this. No one could
ever be God. God is one and only. He is He. People may have invented useful things.
Game changers. They may helped us in many ways especially in our daily lives but no
one could have the power of our God. Did it ever cross their minds that whatever they
invent, God is a part of it? God gave them knowledge, their strength, their determination.
God is the power. To prevent good from being twisted into evil ends is also the same in
preventing science from becoming scientism. We should know our limitations. Know
when and why it should be used. Consider the other beings that will be affected. In the
future, many things could happen and we should always be considerate and responsible
of our actions. Do not dwell on personal wants or self-satisfaction. When you know it’s
wrong, stop it. We should help each other figure out our mistakes and correct it. For
those with large brain, they should use their knowledge to influence people in doing the
right thing in our planet.
