2 TANKMASTER DEMO
2.1 DEMO system introduction

The demo system involves almost all programs and functions in the TankMaster suite.
The main difference is that no communication to real gauges is active. Instead all values will be
simulated, both level, temp etc as well as gauge database values such as reference height.
There are no restrictions in time for the demo system.
Following functions are enabled:

1. WinOPI (including Alarm handling, Custom Views, Inventory).
No Hardware Key is needed
2. WinSetup (incl. Custody Transfer Config).
3. Unlimited OPC data access for SCADA systems or other OPC clients.
OPC option will be enabled for two (2) hours after starting TankMaster.
Enables possibilities to test connections to HOST System via OPC communication.
These functions are not enabled:

1. Network
2. Host communication
3. Custody Transfer Seal
Important: The TM for demo and sharp installation is on the same distribution (same CD).
It’s only a matter of configuration, which is done when you select DEMO during installation.

3 INSTALLATION
3.1 Step 1, TankMaster

Install TankMaster as normal.
Insert CD “click” on “Tank Master” and follow the wizard.
In the window below select ’Demo’.

After the TankMaster installation is finished you need to install a Demo database to fully use the
system. With out Demo Database it will be possible to TankMaster for Demo purpose but the
internal database is not prepared for it, i.e. WinSetup will not work as expected and no Devices and
Tanks can be installed.
3.2 Step 2, Demo database

Install the “TM DEMO Database” by clicking on the button in the lower-right corner.
Important: When installation a DEMO database, old database will be overwritten.
See chapter 4 for using multiple Databases.

Again follow the wizard to succeed with DEMO Database installation.

The default database consists of 6 REX gauges, 1 FCU and 6 tanks. Also some WinOPI files are
installed, e.g. colours for products and two Custom Views (obe terminal overview and one tank
view).
3.3 Uninstallation
The Demo Database can not be used for a live system; it partly supersedes the offline installation
choice. In case you want to switch to non-demo mode, double click on the unreg demo.reg file in

Saab folder and after that double click on the default.reg.

This action takes the system to a standard functionality, to come back to a Demo system double
click on demo.reg. To be able to run the Demo again the Database has to be the Demo Database, see
chapter 4 for information about how to run multiple databases.

4 PROGRAM FUNCTIONALITY
4.1 WinSetup
WinSetup will work as usual, i.e. as if the PC where connected to real devices. In case you need to
install more gauges you need to first install them in an Access database. Go to the setup folder of
the Saab folder and start SetupDevDb.exe. To add a new gauge, e.g. an REX, enter 1.7.rex as gauge
and select a Unit ID and press Add button. After this you can install the gauge in WinSetup using
Verify Communication button in the Communication page.
Almost all windows will work as if a gauge is connected with some exceptions.

4.2 WinOPI
Will work as if all options in the key were enabled except network.
Levels and Temps for example will be simulated with a ramp function.
4.3 TankMaster.Net
When running demo on TM.Net the TankMaster Demo can preferably be used as the base system.

5 MULTIPLE DATABASES
This information will be present if you are working with several Sites or Sites in combination with
Demo system.
5.1 General information

TankMaster stores the general system information in two data folders. One in OPI folder and one in
Server folder. These data folders contains all the needed information regarding Devices, Tank and
more of the settings made in the system.
When taking a backup of a TankMaster System this are the two important folders, OPI/Data and
Server/Data, saving the files in these folders makes it possible to restore the system.
5.2 Saving Database

Make a new folder in the OPI and Server folders and name it to something else that “Data”,
e.g. “Data Site#1”; “Data Demo.
When TankMaster runs it will only look in to the folders that are named “Data” only.
5.3 Restoring Database

Delete all files in “Data” and copy the files from “Data Site#1” to “Data” folder.
Make this for both OPI and Server folders and you will have changed the database.
5.4 Working with TM Demo

After installing the Demo Database from the TM CD it can preferable be stored in a “backup
folder” for easy access. Otherwise the database has to be collected from the CD next time the
system should be restored to a Demo system.
