ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Cisco wireless networking combines the mobility of wireless with the performance of wired
networks, offering a dramatic performance increase compared to legacy 802.11a/g networks.
Cisco delivers 802.11n and 802.11ac excellence designed to effectively support a vast range of
business-focused wireless networks. from the most basic to today's most demanding high-
density environments.
Mobile Workspace
Go beyond Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) access. Establish a network, security, and
management framework when creating a true mobile workspace for your always-on employees.
Integrated multi-level security policy and enforcement to protect your network and data
Application visibility and control for improved user experience and security
Mobility Services from Cisco and our partners that provide the expertise you need
Connected Mobile Experiences
Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) is enabled by the Mobility Services Engine (MSE),
with the CMX license working in coordination with the Cisco Wireless Network. The CMX Wi-Fi
location-based services offering helps venue owners and retailers engage and better
understand their customers using mobility and location intelligence from the Wi-Fi network.
CMX capabilities of Mobility Services Engine offer:
Location-based Wi-Fi analytics for visibility into the number of visitors, their dwell time,
and their movements
Online and social analytics to better understand customer demographics and their
mobile behavior
An API and SDK to make it easy to create location-based applications and services
CMX helps you build a stronger relationship with customers through a more personalized
mobile user experience.
It helps access points bridge gaps in coverage caused by mixed client devices
(802.11a/g/n and ac). It increases access performance and range while providing a
better wireless experience.
Optimized Roam
Clients can roam more intelligently and cleanly between access points. It prevents
negative experiences for Wi-Fi users by monitoring the device connection quality and
proactively prompting poorly-performing client devices to seek better connections
sooner.
further prioritization, or block them for security reasons or to conserve limited network
bandwidth. AVC offers these benefits:
Improved Quality of Experience
Proactive monitoring and end-to-end application visibility accelerate troubleshooting and reduce
network downtime.
Optimized Roam
Cisco High Density Experience (HDX) improves the performance of legacy and cutting edge
wireless and mobile devices with advanced technologies. HDX consists of Turbo Performance,
Clean Air with 80MHz support, Client Link 3.0, and Optimized Roaming.
This technology monitors the device connection quality and proactively prompts poorly
performing client devices to seek better connections sooner.
Cisco Application Visibility and Control (AVC) solution for wireless networks identifies more
than 1000 business- or consumer-class applications using deep packet inspection (DPI). With
this extraordinary visibility into application traffic, administrators can mark applications for
further prioritization, or block them for security reasons or to conserve limited network
bandwidth. AVC offers these benefits.

WLAN Introduction
IQRA UNIVERSITY MAIN CAMPUS ABDUL NAEEM KHAN (48082)
The mobile user requires the same accessibility, security, quality-of-service (QoS), and high
availability currently enjoyed by wired users. Whether you are at work, at home, on the road,
locally or internationally, there is a need to connect. The technological challenges are
apparent, but to this end, mobility plays a role for everyone. Companies are deriving
business value from mobile and wireless solutions. What was once a vertical market
technology is now mainstream, and is an essential tool in getting access to voice, real-time
information, and critical applications such as e-mail and calendar, enterprise databases,
supply chain management, sales force automation, and customer relationship management.
The following five interconnected elements work together to deliver a unified enterprise-
class wireless solution:
• Client devices
• Access points
• Network unification
• World-class network management
• Mobility services
Beginning with a base of client devices, each element adds capabilities as the network
needs evolve and grow, interconnecting with the elements above and below it to create a
comprehensive, secure WLAN solution.
The Cisco Unified Wireless Network cost-effectively addresses the WLAN security,
deployment, management, and control issues facing enterprises. This framework integrates
and extends wired and wireless networks to deliver scalable, manageable, and secure
WLANs with the lowest total cost of ownership. The Cisco Unified Wireless Network
provides the same level of security, scalability, reliability, ease of deployment, and
management for wireless LANs that organizations expect from their wired LANs.

CISCO ROUTER:
All Cisco routers have built-in Web-based Setup pages that allow the user to
customize settings and set up advanced properties. This document explains the steps
for accessing the Cisco VPN Router's Web-Based Setup page.
Applicable Devices

Step 2. Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP Address 192.168.1.1 is the
default IP of most Cisco routers then press Enter.
Note: If the IP address of the router has been changed, type the router's IP address in
the Address bar instead.
The router's IP address can be changed by either:
Running the router's setup CD.
Changing it on the router's Web-based Setup page.
If you forgot the router's IP address you can either:
Check the router's IP address in the administration guide of the respective
router.
Press the Reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds.
Note: This procedure will reset your router to factory defaults. Any settings on the
router will be erased. The router's IP address will be 192.168.1.1 and the username
and password will be admin (early models) or cisco (recent models) after resetting.

A new window will prompt for a Username and Password, type admin or cisco for
both fields (this is the default username and password), then click OK.
Note: If the username and password of the router has been changed, type the
router's new username and password on both fields instead. In case you forget the
router login, you can reset the router. This procedure will reset your router to factory
defaults. Any settings on the router will be erased. The router's IP address will
be 192.168.1.1 and the username and password will be admin or cisco after
resetting.
If the computer is having problems accessing the router's Web-based Setup page,
make sure the computer is connected properly to the router.
