#1 Stephen Richard Eng

I would like to have a release of all information pertaining to the Central Intelligence Agency
work of my father Stephen Richard Eng, son of Office of Special Services and CIA’s deceased
Ransom Ludwig Eng, whose spouse Helen Eng accompanied Ransom abroad.

It is my understanding that Stephen Eng, also known as Steve Eng, worked for the Central
Intelligence Agency at least one summer in the nineteen sixties, investigating possible instances
of Communism in the rock and roll blues clubs in the Washington D.C. era. He discovered no
Communism, but filed reports accordingly, and enjoyed the music and beer.
Can i have copies of his report writing?

He went on later to write professionally and I am interested in his writing from a literary angle.
If there is any record of his work for the military police in lieu of Vietnam service, I am interested
in that, and I am interested in what way his father’s high position in the CIA helped him avoid the
dangers of service in Vietnam.

He traveled with his family due to Ransom Eng’s positioning in London and Munich in the fifties.

If there are any records of the family’s London address or Munich address, I am especially
interested to find out the details of my father’s education abroad.
He returned to the states where he completed his studies at George Washington University.
Did the CIA provide tuition for his studies, or did Ransom pay out of his salary?
When Stephen Eng was in Munich after at least a year in London where he finished high school,
he attended a University or college for Americans or English-speaking persons in Germany.

The school I understand was attended by children of service persons and bureaucrats.
I would like to find out what school he went to as was necessitated by Ransom Eng’s transfer
and base in Munich. The approximate years this occurred were 1956-1960.

If Helen Eng has any record of existence in the CIA files, I would like to know more about her
role. To my knowledge she was not specifically on CIA payroll, but perhaps she worked for the
CIA directly or indirectly.

If there is any information on Helen Stephens Eng health, family background, pensions, or
medical treatments in CIA records I request this information also. As a recipient of the CIA
generated health insurance policies earned by Ransom Eng, I would specifically like access
to her medical records pertinent to congenital diseases for which I may be at risk, included
cataracts and glaucoma, for which she had extensive surgeries and treatments.
At the close of WWII, Helen moved my father to New York City from San Diego, but they were
then immediately transferred to Washington D.C. due to Ransom’s positioning there. Do you
have record of her move or OSS/CIA communications with her, instructing her where to go?

Please may I also have all records pertaining to Ransom Eng, specifically his work for the
Atomic Energy Commission, his work advising Lyndon Johnson, his retirement under Nixon,
his supervision of the Roswell incident, and any involvement in Bay of Pigs or Vietnam
reconnaissance. I am also interested in his point of contact in London and Munich. What was
his assigned role there?
Do you have a record of his original anthropological contribution to the OSS which involved the
Okinawan people in the 1940’s, written with Marshall T. Newman titled: The Ryukyu People: A
Biological Appraisal.
If so, may I have a copy? May I have more background information regarding the research
process and the relationship my grandfather had to this study which he co-authored.
I am curious who it was that promoted him, and I have been told he was head of scientific
intelligence. Who made this decision? He told us very little at all.
Thank you for the release of previous information regarding Ransom Eng. It has been very
helpful to understanding the family history.

If you prefer to answer these three requests separately in installments, i am very grateful for
anything and everything you send.

Also, would you help me to understand how frequently I may make such requests.
If any parts of this request are denied, I would like to know on what grounds, and what appeals
process is available.

If large de-classifications occur, I would like to gradually know more about my family.

Ironically, you might find it humorous to know, that Ransom’s entire fortune was lost to Enron,
which has left us virtually penniless.
Do you have any programs of assistance, or would you give me a job?

Do you have any educational grants for children of CIA?

in the late nineties I attempted to contact Ransom Ludwig Eng to assist me in my education. I
was attending the very expensive Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. His attempts to provide
for our education were sabotaged.

I would like to attend law school and study abroad and am interested in foreign policy and
international comparative legal analysis.

I am paralegal trained and speak French and German and have studied some Hebrew, Arabic,
Swedish, Dutch, Italian, and Spanish.
