DBT‐MIET has provided an opportunity to final year biotechnology students for
industrial visit at Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore which is also famous by Garden
city. The main objective behind this visit was to expose the students towards
Industrial environment and provide walk‐in jobs opportunities to them.
The Industrial visit has been organized by DBT along with student –Institute
partnership where institute bear all their boarding, logging and travel expanses
where student have to bear their eating expanses. DBT‐MIET has given an open
way to students for coordinating the visit in various companies at Bangalore in the
month of February subsequently in year 2013 and 2014. Earlier in the year 2011
the group of students and faculty members visited several companies in
Bangalore city.
The key highlights of these visits were:
1) Attending Bangalore India Bio conferences (from 2013 onwards) in first two
days to understand the current need, problems and their solutions via
various techniques in biotechnology.
2) Interacting with various company representatives for inviting them to visit
campus for recruitment purpose.
3) Visiting Biocon‐ India plant to see real industrial environment that helped
final year students to link their theoretical concepts with their practical
concepts by directly visualizing large scale demonstration of working
environment.
4) Biocon visit includes two stages, In first stage students interact with the
company representative that involves presentation, question answer
session, company future plans etc. that helped students to clear their
doubts and questions such as How to join these esteemed organization and
what things should be kept in mind while applying in such companies.
While second stage involves real time visit to the working plant where they
had seen all the working labs at large scale i.e. from raw material to end
product.
5) Visiting of students in small groups at various companies at various places
in Bangalore such as white field, electronic city etc. on behalf of DBT‐MIET.
The main purpose behind this is to provide walk‐in opportunities to
students for their placements and invite companies to visit MIET campus
for recruitment and training purposes.
The whole visit last for a week and students also got chance to visit various places
of Bangalore in the evening like Botanical Garden, Iscon Temple etc. In short
according to students it was “Memorable Trip of Bangalore”.
