Itinerary

Introduction
Amble across the historic cultural centres of Bohemia and explore the colourful folklore of
Central Europe. See Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, the Warsaw Ghetto and Old Town Square of
Prague, with a stop in the charming medieval fortress of Rothenburg.

Day 1: Arrive Frankfurt

Welcome to Frankfurt. After checking in, your Travel Director takes you on an orientation tour of
the city's dynamic financial centre and medieval Römerplatz.

Day 2: Frankfurt – Berlin (2 Nights)

Cross the northern plains of Germany to the capital Berlin, a city with a rich political and cultural
history.

Day 3: Berlin Sightseeing and Free Time

Your Local Specialist brings Berlin's history to life during your sightseeing tour. View the
Reichstag Building, Tiergarten, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden Boulevard and the
German State Opera House. Spend the rest of the day exploring this exuberant city on your

Day 4: Berlin – Poznań – Warsaw (2 Nights)

Head east and cross the border into Poland at Frankfurt-an-der-Oder. Visit the former Polish
capital of Poznań and view the City Hall, Gothic architecture and other important sights. Arrive
later in the capital Warsaw, where you dine tonight at your hotel.

Day 5: Warsaw Sightseeing and Free Time

Warsaw is an energetic and lively city and your Local Specialist reveals the city's diverse history
during your sightseeing tour this morning. View St. John's Cathedral and the Royal Palace in the
Old Town, which was rebuilt after the war. See the site of the Warsaw Ghetto. Afterwards you
are free to explore and don't miss the opportunity to take an Optional Experience to Wilanow
Palace, the residence of Polish King Jan Sobieski.

Day 6: Warsaw – Czestochowa – Auschwitz – Kraków (2 Nights)

Travel south to Czestochowa and view the Paulite Monastery at Jasna Góra. Dating back to the
14th century, this place of pilgrimage is home to a famous icon of the Black Madonna. Then stop
to visit the poignant former concentration camp at Auschwitz, a permanent reminder of the
horrors perpetrated during the holocaust. Later arrive into Kraków for a two-night stay.

Day 7: Kraków Sightseeing and Free Time

Admire Krakow's beautiful sights with your Local Specialist this morning. See the city's medieval
walls and buildings, and the castle and cathedral on Wawel Hill. In your free time soak up the
atmosphere in the Old Town or perhaps visit Wieliczka Salt Mines.

Day 8: Kraków – Budapest (2 Nights)

Relax and enjoy the splendid scenery as you drive through the foothills of the Tatra Mountains
into the Slovak Republic and on to Hungary. Your day ends in Budapest, a bustling city on the
romantic River Danube.

Day 9: Budapest Sightseeing and Free Time

View the city's sights with your Local Specialist including the Fisherman's Bastion, Heroes'
Square, the Church of St. Matthias and panoramic views of the city from Gellert Hill. Afterwards,
explore on your own or maybe take a trip to Szentendre. Tonight dine at your hotel.

Day 10: Budapest – Győr – Vienna (2 Nights)

Journey through the Transdanubia region to Győr. Founded by the Romans, Győr has retained
much of its medieval and Baroque charm. Continue across the Austrian border and arrive later
in Vienna, famed for its classical music. Consider joining an Optional Experience to a famous
local hostelry for traditional Austrian cuisine and a musical performance.

Day 11: Vienna Sightseeing and Free Time

This morning, consider a guided visit to Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of
the Habsburgs. Later from the Parliament to the Opera, the Hofburg and City Hall, your Local
Specialist shows you all the sights of this beautiful imperial city.

Day 12: Vienna – Brno – Prague (2 Nights)

Leave Vienna and cross the border into the Czech Republic. See the medieval town of Brno.
Journey through the beautiful Bohemian countryside to the golden city of Prague.

Day 13: Prague Sightseeing and Free Time

Prague spans the River Vltava and ranks as one of the best-preserved cities in Europe. Your
Local Specialist gives you an insight into the city's history during your sightseeing tour, which
features Prague Castle, the Cathedral of St. Vitus and the Old Town Square. In your free time,
perhaps take a cruise on the Vltava River.

Day 14: Prague – Rothenburg – Frankfurt

Travel across the border into Germany, where you arrive at the quaint town of Rothenburg ob
der Tauber. See the sights during your orientation. Later return to Frankfurt where you enjoy
dinner.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Costsaver Highlights of Bohemia tour.
Amy, our Tour Director, was fantastic: helpful when needed, very
knowledgeable, and also happy to leave people to sleep on the
longer journeys! We had a wonderful (smaller) tour group which
really made the trip. Many of the optional tours were excellent
additions to the itinerary - particularly the majority of those that
ended up with a musical bent: the Polka evening in Poland, the
night tour in Vienna (which ended up in a pub with musical
entertainment), and the optional dinner with musical entertainment
in Vienna. This was a Costsaver tour, so luxury couldn't be
expected. On that basis, the hotels were all clean and functional,
though the ones in Krakow and Budapest were the only ones which
didn't require some form of transportation to get into town.
Unfortunately, we had a couple of problems with the Plaza Alta
hotel in Prague, where we stayed for only 2 nights. On both nights,
the room keys for my room did not work and had to be reset (which
happened to a couple of others too), and when my roommate made
a request for maintenance to the plumbing (water wouldn't stop
running in the toilet, despite my roommate's best efforts), while
reception passed on the call, they were unable to provide us with
any idea of when somebody might be around to sort out the
problem - it took over 3 hours in the end. Relatively minor issues
like that aside, the trip was fantastic - I'm pretty tired now, but in a
good way! I'l...

"Travel is the only thing you buy, that makes you richer !" how true
this statement is. We have just come home after a whirlwind 5 week
holiday which included the Costsaver Highlights of Bohemia
tour...travelling is what you make it and the people that you make it
with. Having 2 days in most places made such a difference, the
hotels where surprisingly close to the city and had all the facilities
you needed. What made our tour was our Tour guide, Robert Early!
From day one everyone engaged with him and the last day when
we were all so sad to say farewell to the Tour Guide Guru.Robert's
knowledge and expertise are outstanding but his ability to ensure
that everyone is included and telling tales of past history has never
been so enjoyable. If we travel again on Costsaver ( this was our
4th time ) we would enquire who our guide was going to be as he
made our holiday just that special.

Great itinerary, with lots to see. Very fast paced tho, so bring very
comfy shoes. Our driver was excellent! Very smooth driving and
coach was immaculate. Too much chicken served in included

Peter was extremely professional but firm with his timings and
rotation on the bus. Unlike the reviews that I have read by other
people who have taken similar tours. Everyone had a chance to sit
at the front of the bus, as Peter made it a point to rotate everyone
on a daily basis. Peter was extremely knowledgeable, punctual and
extremely methodical, which was a real pleasure and if you have
Peter on the bus, you are definitely in luck. Way to go Peter.

I know we only had a certain amount of time to see things but I feel
as though we could have had more time at some special places.
Too much Chicken in most Meals that were Included. Meals were
small. Breakfast was excellent in most Hotels.

other costs for this tour. The tour includes 14 buffet breakfasts and 5 three-course dinners
so food costs should also be factored in.

The age range for this tour is 5 - 80 years old. There is no strict upper age limit providing
passengers are comfortable with the demands of the itinerary, however, children under the
